Payments as a Seller on hold
Summary: The discussion involves participants talking about the issue of payment holds for sellers. stainlessenginecovers suggests that the likely cause for the hold is a result of a large sale with a 30+ day hold. The conversation does not provide further details or solutions but centers around the understanding of the hold process in a selling environment.
Hello eBay Community,
I have been selling on eBay for quite some time and have never had any issues getting paid. After my most recent sale yesterday my payments were mysteriously put on hold.
I have updated my bank account information per eBay’s instructions even though there was no reason to because nothing has changed.
I have done this several times but my account still says “update needed”.
I tried the “chat” function but to no avail and I’m unable to get through to a live agent.
Any help or support would be greatly appreciated.

This started last couple years.

·4 months agothat is not necessarily true, it may or does entirely depend on the seller status. It is not a blanket policy, although cs may tell someone that to make them feel better. The algorithm is what determines when funds are held.
just like cashing checks at your bank, if you are depositing checks daily for a extended period they clear right away, then if you stop depositing checks for a while and then start again, the check is held. Or if you deposit a large out of the ordinary check same results..... that is the basis of an algorithm.

That is not a universal policy. Every several months I have and item sell for over $1000 with no hold whatsoever. Just two months ago I had a $2600 sale with no hold.
Not sure what criteria are used but there is no blanket $1000 level for everyone.

·4 months agoHow long ago did you provide the information? eBay needs some time to review it -- it's not instantaneous. My experience was 5 days or so.
Don't do it "several times" because I would think that could cause a delay in the review being completed.

·4 months agoIt is not a mystery.
It is probably your $2600 sale causing the hold.
That is outside your recent performance as a seller, and you are not trusted enough to get paid.
It is likely to be as long as 30 days after delivery to the buyer before the hold is removed.
