Payment sent to closed bank account

I haven't sold on eBay in a while and forgot to update my bank account for payouts. Just sold something the other day and the payout was sent to my closed bank account. I updated my payments to go to my current bank account, but the payout was already on its way to my closed bank account. Will the payment bounce back to eBay and they will put it in my updated bank account or did I lose the money completely?

I have the exact experience with 2 items I sold in May and realised I had not updated my Bank payout details, anyway, Ebay swears blind the money was sent to the Bank even though the account was closed last December and my Bank swear blind they never received stating that you cannot transfer money to an account that does not exist so sofar Ebay are going to send me proof of transfer and my Bank (which I have other accounts with) claim it is impossible - At present I am waiting for Ebay

Ebay sent me an email today with 2 J P Morgan docs that's are really meaningless saying the two payments were made, they do not mention Bank, Account No just my name and following that I received a call from Ebay asking if I showed them to my Bank - Yes I said but to them they do not confirm anything - In a nutshell Ebay are adament they sent my money to an account that was closed last December and my Bank cannot find any record of this and confirmed that as fact in a subsequent email to me which I passed on to Ebay - What a bloody mess ðŸ˜±

did this ever get resolved for you? same thing just happened to me a couple of days ago. I used to have my payouts through paypal and hadn't sold anything in a couple of years. I figured Paypal was still there, but it was removed as I didn't know they ended their relationship with Ebay so it defaulted to an old bank account. It says funds sent but my bank account is closed. I hope the money is returned soon.

Ebay is claiming my bank is to take care of this and keeps providing me with the transaction account number for them to track the payment. umm, ok.

Im assuming it it was sent to an old closed account-it will bounce back to ebay and they will attempt to put it into new account? (I already deleted and added new) Why is customer service so bad? Im assuming this will take some time.
