payment holds
I'm a new / old seller . Started a new acct. after 10 years of inactively .
Was told upfront as a new seller a hold would be in place for 30 days as a 14 day hold . Ok ..... 60 days in all positives , shipped on time , tracked , no open cases ..... no negatives at all .... algorithm states if we reviewed you today I would rank above standard . I have been trying for almost a week to get an answer about why I'm still too un-trustable to receive my funds in a timely manner ?

It is written policy to protect buyers, and eBay. (mostly eBay)

OP2 years agoyes .... I just reviewed ... and that is exactly what I read . It's that sometimes longer I can't seem to get past or any kind of straight answer about how my account fell into that . Thank you for your input .

·2 years agoIts unwritten rule that you pay and get your item...everywhere is like that...but their foolish explanation is that they try to motivate me to sell more...they must be crazy, i am not a shop and sell my things i dont need...crazy house 🙂

·2 years agoYou must have a huge storage shed to sell all those'items you dont need'.

·2 years agoIt's standard procedure for new accounts to be on hold for funds. We have all been there at some point.
Has nothing to do with shipped on time, tracked, no open cases, no negatives at all.
As least you made it to this point which is great.
Just keep selling items "every month"...otherwise a hold might return when a seller stops selling for a number of months. The trick is selling something every month. Good luck.

·2 years agoI guess that I am now going to have a problem with payment holds if I do not get a quick sale when I end my time away later this week.
I have been on time away for some time now and did not have sales for a bit before shutting down. I could easily exceed a month if I don't get a fast sale.

OP2 years agoThis is all so different than I remember as a previous seller . They get EBay's right up front and first then draw weeks of interest on every penny I earn , holding my funds like a carrot tied to stick in front of me . I just don't remember selling on EBay having this many hoops to jump through ..... but it's been a good while . I'm kinda side eyeing a few other forums for sellers with less hoops and hassles .

·2 years agoEbay is not holding your funds, Managed Payments is. With Ebays 30 day MBG,and no recent selling history, Ebay prefers that any refunds come out of your pocket, not theirs.

These holds have been in play for quite some time. I have been selling steadily since 2001, and don't remember if I had "holds" or not, but the wife started selling on her well established "buying" account 8-9 years ago, and experienced funds holds for a while until established as a seller.

·2 years agoPaypal did holds too.

OP2 years agoI think eBay owns them now ... for a few years or better . Not saying it could be connected ...... I'm not even sure if eBay still owns them , but I think they do .

Ebay hasnt 'owned' Paypal for years.

OP2 years agoI said a good while lol Last time I was a seller the funds came directly to me , eBay didn't handle the funds back then . All new stuff to me . I'm small potatoes to them and mean nothing to eBay either way . It wasn't always like this , but I can't be that guy whinning about how it used to be . I'll get over it or I'll move on ... just waiting for the review findings . The funny part is they had to put my payments on hold for up to 5 days while they review my 10 sells . Guess I'm on a double hold now .... making progress I am .....

·2 years agoGood attitude. Just keep selling. Things will smooth out.
Well yes, back in the day the funds came directly to me as well. They came in an envelope 😂 Sometimes it was cash. Did not even have to wait to go cash the USPS money order.

·2 years agoTime away is cool.
I did time away without a problem while weeks on vacation out of the country.
I let buyers make purchases and emailed each buyer when I will return after a period of time to mail items out.
Had about 70+ purchases while on vacation. Even though items were not mailed I still received funds normally from the sales...which was money to spend while on vacation.
No reason to ever shut down if you are able to let buyers know by email when they can expect their purchase.
Interesting thought...new seller puts up items for sale...does time away...doesn't have to mail out items immediately and wait out a 30 day window...

·2 years agoSo what is going to happen if I don't have a sale for, ................ say like 35-40 days?

·2 years agoI prefer not to take such a chance.
Maybe nothing will happen and maybe something will.
I only read the postings here like you always do...some sellers ask why are there holds on their funds.
Like e seller who only sold inexpensive items...and then returns after a period of time selling high-end items...we read holds on these sellers all the time....plus eBay asking for receipts.

OP2 years agoI really would like to see numbers like yours someday by my name . I know I'll never get them if I get frustrated and close my accnt . I appreciate your level headed thoughts . You are my inspiration for today . Dont get me wrong though ..... if the review doesn't loosen their grip on my funds I'm still going to call them names they have never heard , have a hissy fit , and close my account ..... just kidding ... I think .... thanks for the positive words bud 😊

OP2 years agothanks for the info . When I follow the why is my payments on hold link .... those are exactly the issues they tell me to look into .

·2 years agoNot sure how it is now, but it used to be 3 months, so many transactions and a certain $ amount sold before they stopped holding funds.
taylorvintages
OP2 years agomaybe that's it . Ill have to go back and reread that . I thought it said for up to 30 days and possibly longer if there where issues with your account . I could easily be wrong though . I'll have to review that . thanks for a lead .
