No response from seller to cancelation request
Hi
I need some advice please.
I have bought an item on Ebay for collection only and paid for it through PayPal straight away.
When I looked at the order summary I realized how I messed up. I did not look at the location of the item properly and instead of being Middlewich (1h drive from me) it was Middlesborough (3h drive).
I have asked to cancel the order through Ebay, been advised to wait 3 days. I have also massaged seller explaining mistake and asked for cancellation.
Three days passed no answer from seller and Ebay refused cancellation. I have sent another massage to seller to kindly ask to cancel and offered to cover Ebay fees for relisting etc. No answer.
I would understand if seller said sorry, can’t cancel, need money etc. Then we could possibly make alternative arrangement, like D2D courier maybe, worst case I would collect but no answer at all for 4 days now.
What can I do now to still try to cancel this order? Or I must bite the bullet and go and collect?
Thank you.
Kind regards

This is the policy on the UK site:
https://www.ebay.co.uk/help/buying/buyers-can-cancel-order/buyers-can-cancel-order?id=4004
For orders that involve collecting the item in person you have these options to request a cancellation:
Cancellations for items with local collection are possible up to 30 days after you purchased the item on eBay or up to the point the item is confirmed as collected.

Your reason for wanting to cancel is totally valid and it's nuts for a seller to decline or ignore, especially when it's local pickup. And it's even more honorable that you're willing to compromise on pickup if they were to reply.
Although sellers aren't required to accept cancellation requests, smart sellers do so as long as they haven't shipped and since you chose local pickup, they didn't get an address to which to ship.
Did you already pay for it?
Policy: https://www.ebay.com/help/policies/member-behavior-policies/order-cancellation-policy?id=5298&st=3&pos=1&query=Order%20cancellation%20policy&intent=order%20cancellation&lucenceai=lucenceai&docId=HELP1682
From the policy:
A buyer can request to cancel an order if:
When a buyer submits a request to cancel their order, the seller can choose to accept or decline the buyer's request.

OP1 year agoHi
Yes, as usual I paid right after pressing buy now. It was only after looking at order summary I had a closer look and realized I made a mistake.
It is crazy that I be better off not following best practices and not paying for my order.
Since the seller did not made any attempt to contact me to say he declines cancellation and not tried to provide collection address and times am I obligated to ask for collection address and arrangement of collection etc? Or can I wait 2 weeks and claim item not received?
I agree not the nicest way to play but I did offer to reimburse eBay fees so seller does not loose anything.
Thanks.
Kind regards

Not much you can but wait to see if you hear anything.
