Yes a bank insisted on giving me checks when I opened a checking account. I threw them into the burn pile.
I haven't written a check in years..................................

·4 months agoThen why did you ever sign up and agree to ebay's policies in the first place? All that info you don't trust eBay with, they are required by federal law to collect on you before ever paying you out. Would be nice if they made sure they had that info before allowing sellers to list, but that's not really their problem, its sellers issue to clean up

By the way, when you post here, you aren't addressing eBay or its employees. This is a very large group of fellow eBayers, both buyers and sellers, who volunteer their time here to help others with problems if possible. We don't have your payout and, if you don't trust eBay enough to share your bank account into, guess you'll be contacting the appropriate department of your state's government and awaiting your funds which will take a really long time to show up.

·4 months agoMy guess is that the cost of paper checks and the ease of EFT plays into factor. If you don't trust the site, don't use it.

·4 months agoBecause they don't pay by check.
If you don't want to provide a checking account and your SSN, you can wait until they send the funds to your states unclaimed property, then you can get the funds from them.

·4 months agoBy the way, expect your state's unclaimed property department to file a 1099 with the IRS for your payment when you receive it.
You can then deal with the issue of how you report the payment.

eBay requires a registered checking account for payouts. If you don't want to use your main account you can open a separate one to receive payments. Many sellers, including me, have done this.
