I'm having problems with ebay verifying a "Vanilla Visa Gift Card".
When I try to add the Vanilla brand Visa Gift Card I get a message that states, "We couldn't verify this card. Please select a different payment method."

·2 years agoHave been trying to buy several things with several cards. Been doing this for quite a while and it stopped working for me when this thread was opened.

·2 years agoCurrently having the same issue which is crazy because months ago I attempted to use my vanilla card about 4 times then the payment finally went through, but today I’ve tried it 8 times and it’s rejecting my card.

·2 years agoThey still have not fix the problem with using visa gift cards. Holiday Season is here ebay will lose a lot of my business.

·2 years agoI chatted with a Help Assistant at Ebay and she told me the reason Vanilla gift cards don't work with Ebay is that Ebay wants to use Vanilla Gift's address as the billing address so it's getting flagged. Only thing we, as customers, can do is buy an Ebay gift card with the Vanilla Gift card from a retail location and use the Ebay card that way. They are working to resolve the problem.

·2 years agoI am going to guess. And it is just a guess.
Since the Vanilla Gift Visa is a Debit Card unlike some other Gift cards which are credit cards, some merchants are trying to use them through other networks which are cheaper than Visa and they are being declined. Could be only Vanilla which is rejected by the other networks.
It they fail this way, Visa would be of no help, they would like every penny to go through their network.
Not only would it not surprise me that they fail, it would not surprise me that no one in Ebay support can figure out what is the problem. I'd count on one programmer somewhere at Ebay knowing, and they might no longer be employed at Ebay.

Had planned to buy shoes here with it, but have not tried yet.
So we're saying it won't work?

·3 years agoAlso having this problem and it's frustrating. Ebay wont accept it, Paypal wont, it's bizarre. Can't even buy the item I want directly from their website since these cards are only valid in the US and the product I wanted to purchase is in China.

·3 years agoIt's baffling how they haven't fixed this yet. Sales in general are going to go down the drain if they don't just allow vanilla. 100$ wasted.

·3 years agoI dropped 275.00 for things I needed to do fix ups on figures.... but then found out to late that ebay isn't accepting any vinalla cards it pi**ing me off

·3 years agoI'm having the same problem. I talked to a rep days ago and they told me that a lot of people are experiencing issues buying with visa gift cards and that they are working on this issue, but I'm getting anxious.

·3 years agoI had successfully used the vanilla gift VISA cards on Ebay (and other online sites) for many years, for probably well over a hundred purchases. I had also used them for many years thru PayPal.
However, I began to have trouble with PayPal accepting them sporadically during 2022. Then somewhere around June 29 to July 5th 2023, the VanillaGift quit working on Ebay. Ebay tech support originally said it was technical problem but it still doesnt work. I do hope they get this corrected whether it is a technical or policy change to reinstate the VanillaGift Cards.

·3 years agoSame!! But is weird because I used vanilla gift cards BEFORE! Idk what is the problem.
I really want eBay to fix this, because is illogical. I even tried to verify the vanilla card that I had used before (the one that had worked) and now it turns out that it can't verify it either. It doesn't make sense!

·3 years agoI received one as a gift last Christmas. I could not use it with eBay nor would paypal accept it. I was told by a Visa rep it could only be used for in store purchases and not mail order. I then tried Wallmart and it was accepted for an order.

·3 years agoOdd because I've been using a Vanilla Visa card on Amazon, Big Bad Toy Store, and Nintendo Online Store this past weekend, and my payments went through just fine. Perhaps that rep is misinformed.

·3 years agoCan you use one here? I don't know, but maybe someone with experience will pop in. Out of curiosity, are you entering the card's digits like a Visa card, or are you trying to enter it in the gift card field?

·3 years agoYes, you can use these cards on Ebay to buy whatever you want. I have been using them for a long time until recently, I have been getting the same message. I talked to an Ebay rep, they said it is a technical thing on their end and they would try to fix it soon. Well, soon has come and gone, not fixed!
