I sold item for 40 only get 30 after fees???
I'm really confused about why they are taking this much for fees. I looked up the transaction but it makes no sense to me at all. They add together the product price ($40.00), shipping price (which buyer paid for), and also sales tax. Then they multiple it by the 13.25% which came out to -$6.45. Then take away another .40 cents for some other fee. So it's $6.85 in total for fees. $40.00 - $6.85 is not $30. The money goes straight to my bank account so I don't think I'm being charged a fee for that. Does this sound right? Am I missing something?

·10 months agoDid you subtract the shipping from your total of $40.00?
You had $6.85 in total fees.
I think you need to then subtract your actual postage price. in addition to the $6.85.
What was the actual postage?
You can click on the order and it will show you a breakdown of what was paid. Do you know how to find this?

·10 months ago@stvstar you charge the buyer for shipping in your listing. The buyer pays you for the shipping when they pay. You then buy the label from ebay or the post office (or UPS FED Ex).
Whatever money is left over from postage is yours.
If you are short money to pay the postage from what your buyer paid versus actual cost then you didn't weigh the package right or something went wrong with dimensions or something else.

·10 months agoOK, I did not see that reflected in the payout. Thanks for the clarification.

·10 months agoHere's my confusion: ebay charges the buyer for shipping and then the seller also pays for shipping. Why are we not getting reimbursed for that cost from ebay?

·10 months agoeBay isn't charging the buyer. Sellers set the shipping cost and receive that money (after fees).
(why is this thread getting necro'ed though...)

·10 months agoHere's the way I think it works: When the buyer pays for his purchase, he pays the total of the item price, the shipping fee and the state sales tax, if applicable. You, the seller, use that shipping fee payment to pay for shipping the purchase to the seller. eBay sends the state sales tax funds to the treasury of the appropriate state. You are not reimbursed for the shipping fee by eBay because the buyer paid you and you paid the carrier.

·10 months agoThe only thing ebay is worth doing is cleaning out your garage or shed. Our God will have his final balance 🙠🙌 of the scales. This is why he hates them. People take advantage 😒 unfortunately...
Over 40% is the average. Charging 13.6 % back to the seller or buyer on shipping is unethical and is plain to see 👀. Look for other resources that the Lord blesses 🙌 🤔 you and you will see 👀 😉 🙠all is good. Class action lawsuit is on the horizon ðŸ‘. Release anxiety on this, the Lord's Spirit 🙠had got a battle already.
Have a great 👠day all who read further and remember your clutter is gone when it sells..

·1 year agoLook at your account and see why that was. Read this entire thread. It may clue you in on how to do that. It will show deductions. What they were for. What other $$ may have been deducted, and what the transaction actually consists of. It will allow you to learn how the $ numbers are derived.

I find it easier to follow if you use this page:

·2 years agoYeah I posted that link in the first post upthread @gator08041971 but then the OP's question shifted from transaction-based to payout-based which is why I provided the link for the OP to review payout details instead.

·2 years agoDo you buy your shipping labels through Ebay?
mtnshop
OP2 years agoYes I buy them through ebay which usually gives me a good discount but it doesn't seem I get any of that leftover money either.

·2 years agoThe balance you either used to pay for shipping, or you used it to pay an advertising fee. Check this page to see what it shows:

OP2 years agoThe seller paid for shipping and I don't do anything extra like advertising. my payout for this item already went through so that link is now showing the amount for another item I sold for $42. But the message it shows says,

OP2 years agoYes it looks right. But my payout to my bank is only $30.43. I have no idea where they got that number from.

·2 years agoIts probably due to other differences, holds, etc. Available money is used first for buying labels for another sale for example.
You had money available, you sell another item, that money may get used to buy the next label. It all balances out in the end. I have never encountered an error with the system yet, even if sometimes I scratch my head, but I usually find the difference causing my momentary confusion.
I literally track my eBay account here in my Quicken. What I see on the transaction list here is repeated in my Quicken file. I know exactly how much I spend in fees, shipping and how much gets transferred.

·2 years agoYour earnings were $34.62
It's possible your payout includes different orders mixed together. You'd have to view the payout details to see what was included.
Click on the payout ID.

OP2 years agoYes $34.62 makes sense but I got an email showing that they are only sending me $30.43 to my bank. The $30.43 is what I'm confused about.
Actually ok I was looking some stuff up while typing this reply. The $30.43 makes sense if they take away the shipping fees for the other sale I made a few hours later. Ok wow I think I might have figured it out. I will have to wait for my payment info for this latest sale I guess and see if it all adds up then.
gator08041971
·2 years agoActually you don't have to wait that long. I know immediately where the amounts fall, based on whats pending, and whats available as a balance in the eBay page I linked above. You should be fine. It looks way more daunting than it is, trust me.
