Someone please give me some feedback I sold an item on eBay approximately 18 months ago the buyer bought it eBay received the money but they will not relinquish my money they said that my account was not verified and they closed it the day that they were supposed to pay me that was the last thing I could get out of eBay they would not give me any information whatsoever about my account they told me that I should check with my state auditor after a year because they turn over all monies to the state auditor after a year it's been 18 months I have checked every week since a year started and there is nothing I do not know what to do eBay will not give me any information about my account that was closed everything was legit and on the up and up the buyer paid I even talked to the buyer on the phone after eBay did not pay me I tried to verify the day they were supposed to pay me and they shut my account down literally an hour before I was verified someone please help me I do not know what to do I am at a total brick wall

·10 months agoWhat do you mean by they shut my account down? This account is from May of 2022 and would have been shut one down too if eBay closed another account you had.
Did the item actually show paid when looking at your selling account or a message on the sold listings or looking at the item itself that said it was ok to ship?
Or did you receive an email to your email box, not through eBay messaging, that looked to be from eBay giving you an address to ship indicating it was paid for?
New sellers are high scam targets and esp higher priced items.
Unfortunately there is no way for us to see what sold and when because it is over 90 days ago. If you have done the state route, maybe could be there never was a payment, don't know and no way for us to find out for you. You might also check and see how long your state holds unclaimed funds.
Hope you do get it sorted, but at this point, may not turn out the way you would like.

tells you what to put in.........how do to search, etc. Use the EXACT name you used on ebay, soc sec #, etc....
If nothing shows, are you sure the buyer didn't receive a refund?

OP10 months agoMy check was my State Treasury they do not have any reference not that I know whether to reference it under eBay under the item under my name social security number I'm not sure also if the state says they don't have it which is Colorado by the way how do I arbitrate with eBay they say that my account is closed and they have no further information available to me how do I show them that there's $1,000 extra in their physical budget how do I approach them in arbitration it's like a brick wall someone please help

·10 months agoContact the office of your State Representative for help.
Having worked in the offices of Cabinet Ministers here in Canada, as well as in the public service at lower levels, I have learned that when a civil service clerk gets an enquiry from an elected official, they JUMP.
If your representative's Office * is not helpful, tell all your neighbours about what a terrible job they are doing. When is your next election there?
* You don't need the representative. If they are competent, their office staff will be just as helpful and probably more used to such questions.

·10 months agoIf the money was unjustly held by eBay, you should have filed a small claims case 16 months ago. If it's just a matter of you not providing your personal information, then as has been suggested, contact your state's unclaimed funds office.

·10 months agoWhy? If Ebay has already sent it off to their state, then they no longer have it and they need to address the issue with their state's escheatment department.

·10 months agoThis goes back to that old nutshell. Where a sellers details and all verification needed to sell should be done before a seller is allowed to put up items to sell.

·10 months agoI have always agreed with that too. However we don't know what the OP did not give to Ebay or if them holding it was because of missing information. The OP hasn't given any details. So we are all just guessing what the reason might be.

Did you supply Ebay with ALL the information they asked for? Bank account, SSN, etc.
What state are you in? That makes a difference for when Ebay will send the funds off to the Unclaimed Property dept for your state.

Keep in mind that whatever info it was that you would not give to Ebay, it is likely your state is going to require it before releasing the funds to you.

·10 months agoJust wondering here: if the OP did not provide Ebay with their SSN or other uniquely identifiable info, how would Ebay know what to tell the state (or even which state) when turning over those funds about who is supposed to receive the money?

·10 months agoThat likely happens all the time. It is one of the reasons these escheatment departments in each state exists. It would become their job to verify the person is who they say they are before giving them the funds. All states have a process for this.

OP10 months agoI live in Colorado is my state but I've contacted the treasury department and they do not have any record of it I don't know whether I reference it by eBay or by my name or by the item I'm not sure and I don't know the length of time that eBay will release it please help

·10 months agoDo you mean you never registered for eBay's Managed Payments program?
EBay needs your SSN and checking account information to open that.
Sometimes the seller is asked for further ID or there is a problem with connecting the bank account to the program
Without Managed Payments, eBay has no way to send money to you, and instead the money is sent to the state auditor.

WHEN the state your in will process the amount into their system is a different story.. 😄 google your state to see how long it actually takes.
Also there a reason you won't verify your information? I mean that would have avoided all this issue the first place.

·10 months agoYou need to file a claim with your state "unclaimed property". Below is weblink where you can file for "unclaimed property" for all 50 states.

If you are still unable to get money due, you can file complaint with the BBB.org. Not sure if it will do any good but at least EBAY will have to give some explanation.
