How to receive payments if me and my account are from outside USA (had had my account since 2003)
On previous sells I received the payment thru PayPal with no major issues, but now It seems PayPal is no longer an option

·7 months agoYou can link PayPal to a Payoneer account, transfer the funds to Payoneer, and then withdraw them to a local Mexican bank account.

·7 months agoI'm confused how that would apply here @krazzykats . Since the seller erroneously registered in the US they cannot link to either PayPal or Payoneer from their .com account.
The seller is going to create a new account registered in Mexico and set it up per eBay policy. They are questioning what will happen to their stuck funds on their US registered account since eBay requires a US bank account and they don't have one. They want to know if they will be able to recover those funds or not.

·7 months agoYes, I agree on setting up a new account.
But setting up a Payoneer account with their new account will allow them to also hook into their existing PayPal account and withdraw the funds already there.
Then setup a local Mexican bank account and add it to Payoneer then transfer the money into it.
PayPal -> Payoneer -> Local Bank Account.

·7 months agoI got that part, but the funds aren't on the seller's PayPal account, they are still being held by eBay.

·7 months agoI do not believe a debit card is needed to link your Payoneer account.
Payoneer is not usually used as an Ebay Managed Payments payment method. Payment Methods are used for buying and for Ebay charges when you have no payment balance.
Yes you must have a payment method listed in order to sell, but that can be any credit or debit card,

Payoneer is a substitute for having a checking account.

·7 months agoeBay now uses Managed Payments, so PayPal is no longer required or supported for most sellers. You need to link a local bank account to your eBay account and payments will be deposited directly there, even if you’re outside the US.

OP7 months agoI have already a payoneer account, opened since end of Dec 2025
For better understanding this is my events timeline:
- eBay blocked my payments since I didn't provide a valid US account.
- I opened a Payoneer account after this (end of December 2025).
- I tried to add my payoneer account to ebay, but it seems that I need to apply for a debit (or credit) card from payoneer and add the Debit card number on my ebay payments area.
- Payoneer will not issue me a debit card until I receive at least 100 USD into my payoneer account
- Since my only income in the US is ebay, I don't have a way to receive any money into my payoneer account
- As a side comment, I live in Mexico, near the US border so I cross on the weekends just to make the shipments of sold items (I'm NOT a US citizen nor have ever lived in US).

·7 months agoThings have changed since you last sold here. With eBay managing payments and with Export sellers.
You are running into problems because your account is registered in the United States @oscarbm so eBay wants a US bank account and identification.
eBay does not permit changing country of registration. You will need to create a new account registered in Mexico to properly set up payments and continue selling.
Being located in Mexico and listing on .com you are subject to eBay Export policies.

OP7 months agoIt seems I will have to make a new account as you mentioned. Do you know if the money I have in my actual account can be moved to my new account, or it will be lost?

·7 months agoNot sure how it's done in Mexico.
In the US, if the buyer can't be paid, the funds are sent to the buyers state unclaimed property, then buyer gets the funds from their state.

OP7 months agoI am the seller and the payment for my sold items was received into my actual eBay US account, but unfortunately, I cannot reach that money since eBay already blocked my account due to lack of bank account information (which I don't have since I am Mexican).
So, I will open a new eBay account but now with Mexico address and my doubt is if there is a way to recover my money already in my US account (I think the answer will be "No" or "very difficult")

·7 months agoAs Ken mentioned, you'll need to see what the process is in Mexico and discuss this with eBay customer service. Your account was registered in the wrong country so I'm not sure how it will be handled.

In the US, you have to provide a checking account and your SSN to be paid.
If you moved to a different country, you'll need to open a new account and depending on where you are, either provide a checking account or a Payoneer account to be paid.
