How many items have you listed or sold that stopped your payment holds?
Anyone had eBay put their payments on hold, and then after listing and selling more items, successfully resumed getting payments in 1–3 days? If so, can you share apx *how many listings or sales* (or what pricepoint) it took you to get there? Ebay said they cannot share those numbers - just "build up your listings and sales" I asked the range - like an item a day, or up to 7 a day and what pricepoint and they said: they.don't.actually.know numbers I need to hit. What the heck?!!
For context: I’ve been selling on and off since 2020 with perfect feedback. Sometimes I list a lot, sometimes I take a few months off. I sold a $30 item Jan 21 , funds released Jan 23. Then I sold a $100 item Feb 4 - funds being held until around Feb 19.

·6 months agoYou need to be continuously selling and listing void of any issues or red flags...there is no magic number. A one month break might cause the "clock" to start again

·6 months agoEbay put me on payment holds last August and it ended in October. 6-8 weeks roughly. I sell about 100 items per month, not sure if that matters.

·6 months agoHolds are assigned on an order-by-order basis by a risk assessment algorithm.
That algorithm likely considers dozens (if not hundreds) of weighted factors. Some of those are based on your seller history (volume, seller rating, dispute history, feedback, etc) but others are undoubtedly based on the listing itself (price, item, category, buyer location/history, etc.)

·6 months agoYes your funds would be on hold due to the amount you sell which is very little. You being on Ebay for 6 years doesn't give you credit towards not being eligible for a hold on payment. When you don't use the site much then payments start to be place on hold. Start listing many items and establish a reputation then you will start seeing the hold removed.

·6 months agoThere's not going to be a definitive #/time......as @stephenmorgan says.......it's a trust issue..... Understand that even if the holds go away....if you have a return, that payment will be placed on hold until the case is closed.

10 Sold item in a year before all money hold restrictions lifted. Price range $12 to $500.
The hold was slowly lifted as more items and time passed. It started out saying 30 days hold but was actually never more than 15 days. After a few sales the funds were released when item was shown as delivered. A few months before the hold was completely lifted, money was only held until there was a Acceptance Tracking Scan in eBay.
I suspect the hold would have been lifted sooner if I had more sales.
As I recall, there was also a restriction that I could not sell internationally until after I had 10 sales.

·6 months agoI have days I sell $3.00 and days I sell $70.
The object is to sell items every week no matter what they sold for...and maybe everyday.
And selling something no matter the price of it will stop holds on funds.
And feedbacks or tracking have nothing to do with holds.
Try selling cheapo items every week...post cards, etc.
Heck...some sellers will sell a dollar bill(s) just to have the sales show up when they list something more expensive.

·6 months agoWhen you 'take a few months off' and then list again, you are being treated as a new seller with no recent selling history. Doesnt matter how long you've been a member.

·6 months agoLooking at your listings, most are pretty cheap.
Selling cheap items, then sell a more expensive item, get their attention.
If you sell continually, the holds ease up.

OP6 months agowhile i appreciate the reply - i'm not looking for an observation on where i currently am at. i am seeking data on what metrics people hit to have the payment withholding go away. "selling continually" is vague and is basically what they already told me. i was asking people for a range i should hit - where did others see a change. list 1 item a day, or 10? sell $100 items once a month, or more? i have 3 other jobs and i need targeted goals.

·6 months agoIt's not a metric, so we can't give you that. Not taking a break from selling for 60-90 days is a factor, but changes in your selling patterns even if you're selling every day can trigger it, and there's no known point at which it definitively switches back to shorter or no holds.
Think about it from the perspective of you having the opposite issue: someone takes over your account by hack or phishing or whatever, sells a bunch of high priced items they don't have, stiffs their customers, and then disappears leaving you responsible since it's your account. Would you prefer eBay have the payouts on hold so that person doesn't get the money and leave you having to provide the refunds to your customers, or would you prefer that there be some measures in place to at least mitigate the damage?

·6 months agoThe standard is to sell at least $1000 worth of items or over 100 items. Whichever comes first. It has nothing to do with anything else. Contrary to what you were just told, maintianing a above average or top rate seller status also determines if the will put your funds on hold or not. As long as you do that then the fund should be available after processing.

·6 months agoThat is not at all true. That is only one requirement for being a top rated seller, but that has nothing to do with payment holds.
