Good news story about a bank account switch for eBay payouts
If you've been reluctant to switch your payout destination because, like me, you are a big believer in Murphy's law, I am glad to share a positive experience.
For the last 26 years I'd been using a credit union to receive my eBay payouts.
Even though I stopped using the credit union 15 years ago for my regular banking activity, I was reluctant to change the destination of my eBay payouts, lest my entire eBay selling account vaporize because of a "glitch" in eBay's computer systems -- one for which Article 15 of the eBay user agreement makes clear eBay cannot / cannot be held liable. (I've read a few horror stories on these forums about such a thing happening to sellers.)
Well, I decided last week to throw caution to the wind and switch my payout destination from the credit union to BoA.
I started the process; eBay presented me with a pop-up screen that gave me the option of logging in to my BoA account remotely, so that a third party (whose name escapes me) could access my BoA account information and fill in the data on the eBay page automagically.
Needless to say, I opted to enter my BoA information manually.
The next day I received two micro deposits in my BoA checking account.
I verified them, and the switch was complete. The next day the micro deposits (totaling 7 cents) were promptly debited from my account... which sort of made me laugh, actually.
Anyway... payouts are now being routed to BoA.
I should note that despite the myriad of other shortcomings that plague this platform, eBay has managed the financial end of my dealings with them immaculately. And for that I am grateful.
