Good , Bad, Ugly Payments
Summary: 5star_general_seller questions if anyone praises eBay's policies genuinely and not as an employee, expressing skepticism about positive feedback on the platform. christworks responds, sharing their long-term satisfaction with eBay despite imperfections, arguing that complaints are often due to user error. tobaccocardyahoo supports eBay's policies, noting they find it favorable for their business compared to others. Other participants discuss the benefits of specific eBay services like international shipping and tax handling, while some debate whether eBay's actions are voluntary or legally obligated. 5star_general_seller occasionally challenges or questions these points, leading to further discussion.
Has anyone ever came here to boast how much they love Ebays policies? (and not be apart of Ebays payroll)

But, once in awhile, members will leave a positive post.
No, not on their payroll.

路3 weeks agoOne of the best services offered by eBay is eBay International Shipping (EIS). It takes nearly all the angst out of shipping internationally: the seller is notified of an international sale; packages the item in the normal manner; and then ships it (at US domestic rates) to the EIS hub (usually in Illinois).
Once EIS confirms delivery of the shipment, the seller's job is over -- eBay assumes full responsibility for all shipping issues -- including "item not received" and "item not as described".
Plus eBay handles all paperwork, including VAT and tariff issues.
And I'm still not an eBay employee.

路3 weeks agoI really like that ebay collects and handles all of the sales taxes for me. They didn't used to. It wouldn't be worth it for me selling small-time but having to deal with the taxes!

OP3 weeks agoThey Do. Is it bc they want to or legally have to ?

OP3 weeks agoYes that is good. Except the only time i used it the item still has not been delivered.

路3 weeks ago@5star_general_seller "the only time i used it the item still has not been delivered."
If you are referring to eBay International Shipping (EIS), that should be of no concern to you.
As I stated previously, once the seller's package is confirmed as delivered to EIS, eBay assumes all responsibility for the delivery of the package -- so what you are complaining about is an international delivery issue, and not yours.
If your feelings about eBay are so negative, perhaps eBay is not for you.

路3 weeks agoNot unusual. This is the way of the world and has been for decades.
In the retail world it's always been taught
1 bad experience will be told to 10 people
1 good experience will be told to less than 1 person

路3 weeks agoAt this point in time, Ebay is the very best internet marketplace for me to sell what I want to sell.
Its policies do the least damage to my sales, and it buyer base is better than any other internet marketplace.
Its policies are not much worse than the policies I had on my own website. Providing acceptable customer service has a cost and those who would not, do not understand how expensive that would be, in terms of their bottom line.
Ebay does not need positive posts, it needs a recognition that the negative posts are emotional responses from people who are unwilling to admit to being a business or unwilling to accept responsibility.

路3 weeks agoIn business school courses, they teach MBA students that a business plan which targets 3% of a market, is a plan that venture capitalists do not fund.
thief_in_the_night_100_rating_seller
OP3 weeks agothats what you got out of an MBA ? Impressive.

路3 weeks agoI got a lot more, and never wanted to be funded by a venture capitalist, though I socialized with some.
I have no complaints about my net worth, unlike some who cannot even master selling on Ebay.

路Jul 16, 2026 at 5:07 AMFairminded people understand that there are positives and negatives with any business, including their own. I do a lot of things really well. I'm not perfect. There are areas I can improve on. It is no different with eBay. There is no perfect company.
I sold my first item in 2005. I've seen the platform undergo many changes, some for the better and some not so much. Overalll, I am satisifed. Their policies are not perfect, but no policy will be when you are dealing with hundreds of millions of people. You will always make someone upset. Do away with the 30-day MBG? Buyers will leave, which in turn hurts all sellers. That will also open up the platform for even more fraud. How is that better?
The way I view it is that nobody is made to sell or buy on eBay. You do either or both by choice. If someone is truly unhappy, they should leave. If they don't, but instead choose to complain and talk about how unfair things are, it speaks to their own insanity.
It's a copout to claim people on this message board are on eBay's payroll. eBay does not need people to post good vibes about them on this board. The number of people on this board is the smallest of fraction of the total seller and buyer base on the platform. Right now I would struggle to come up with more than 50 people who post once a week. I'm not sure I could come up with that many. Everybody else pops in to moan or with a problem, and then they are gone.
There are positive posts. I've made them myself. I also call strikes when I see them. The fact is 99% of the problems people have are of their own doing and ignorance. That's not eBay's fault. That's not a policy problem. That's just plain stupidity, which none of us can fix.

路3 weeks agoI agree @christworks , as eBay is only as hard as a would be seller wants to make it.
We do experience the wail of the clueless here on a regular basis when in fact, EBay is easy peasy.
I made eBay a fulltime, major source of income in 2017. Wish I had done the same 10 years earlier.
I have never had an issue with eBay policies. Understanding said policies makes the difference. Working within the policies is the ticket. It ain't that hard.
