EU Seller– Still No Payout After 3 Months
Hi everyone,
I’m a private seller based in EU and I’ve been selling my card collection on eBay.
I’ve completed multiple successful transactions (all buyers received items and left positive feedback) and my account currently has a significant balance.
The issue? I haven’t received any payout since June. I’ve contacted eBay support about 10 times via chat and email. First, they told me my debit card wasn’t accepted, then they told me to open a Revolut account and that will work. It didn’t. Then I was told to get a credit card (I spent time and money getting one as I didn't own one) and again, no luck.
I have submitted all required documents, including my ID, have no disputes, no account flags and no feedback issues.
I’ve also contacted Revolut, who confirmed that my account is fully verified and they can see eBay's verification went through and is all good on their side and said it's eBays problem. All 3 accounts (debit, credit and Revolut) have SEPA Direct Debit enabled (checked with bank and Revolut twice).
eBay keeps giving me vague answers with no clear resolution. It’s been over 3 months, and I still don’t have access to my money.
Can someone from eBay please escalate this to a real payments/compliance agent? The real one, not the ones that took over my case, sent a response and then flagged it as closed. This is extremely stressful, and I’m considering filing a complaint with EU regulators (PSD2 and consumer protection).
Any help from the community or moderators would be appreciated.
Thank you!

You have posted your problem on the Ebay.com forums which are primarily US users.
You would get more useful responses on the Ebay.EU forums.
Here in the US Ebay is different. There are no private sellers. There are different trust and safety policies. Most Ebayers have a credit card. Transfers to checking accounts use ACH transfers. US banks have differing policies on international transfers than European banks.
About all that Ebay.com and Ebay.EU have in common is a vocal minority of sellers who think that Ebay is deliberately cheating them.

OP10 months agoI'll try on EU forums as well. Thank you for your advice!
But still EU sites are connected with US site and requires you to do some things like editing payout over their US site no matter your location. I don't understand that but that's the case.

·10 months agoHave you attached your checking account, not just your debit card?
Don't know why they would tell you to get a credit card, they won't work.

OP10 months agoI had attached first debit account and was instructed I need other account and was advised to make Revolut with the words: "that will for sure work". And when I contacted them again I was told to add a credit card. I didn't have one so I made one! Again nothing. I relinked my Revolut account (Revolut notified me eBay's verification was successful), but still nothing. Payout button is grey (can't press it) no matter what I do (putting it on manual, daily, etc.).
Their responses are contradictory to eachother and when the case is escalated they just send some generic reply and close the case.

·10 months agoWhen I see that Ebay has placed an extended payout hold, I see it as Ebay has basically granted the buyer a line of credit without my authorization. Not much different than someone going to a supermarket, and handing the cashier a postdated check.
Ebay buyers used to sometimes pay by money order, and it was perfectly acceptable for a seller to wait until that money order was received and cashed in before shipping the item. By placing a payout hold, Ebay is requiring buyers to ship the item before they will hand over "the buyers money order".

OP10 months agoI understand the principle and I am totally fine with them holding the money until buyer gets his/hers order and confirms it actually arrived and was all okay.
My money is not on hold, I'm just unable to make a payout. It's been 3 months! Whenever I contacted them (numerous times) I was advised to make new accounts.
Why would they even allow us to make seller account without verifying the banking info first?
I have 3 different accounts now just because of them. I had 1 before!

OP10 months agoYes, I agree. Having a platform that relies on us seller and not providing us with solutions when we have a problem is outrageous. Since I'm in situation where I can't call them (would need to make an out of country call) I'm only relying on chat and emails.
I'll definitely file a complaint to EU authorities (it's free) this week if this situation is not sorted.
This is unacceptable and borderline criminal. Holding someone's money for such a long time and not giving them any clear instructions or options.

·10 months agoEbay support has become a ******* joke. Alone getting beyond the AI and get a real person on the chat is nearly impossible. emails are being ignored and not responded. This market place is on a downward spiral. Only thing keeping me buying here is that some stuff is simple completely unavailable anywhere else. Hopefully more sellers will list their stuff in their own stores or elsewhere and make it possible to find and buy it offside ebay in the future.
