EBAY USER (23yrs) held last three payments!!
This has happened to me in the past and had to call every time. They said it would happen randomly to random people. So I figured the first sale was just that, nope the next two the same **bleep**. I have 100% feedback of 23yrs. Then they tell me it’s “Situational†like what? How am I red flagged? â€You’re not Sirâ€. They can’t even tell me why I have to deal with this, how is that legal? Please any help or if people are fighting against this let me know where and how. Calmer heads prevail but this is frustrating, not I have two sales and have to decide what to do, I’m ready to cancel my account if it gets any worse.

OP1 year agoI have to ask and appreciate everyone’s input, what would happen in the case a scammer buys something then says they didn’t get it or lie and say what was shipped wasn’t the item? I take pics of me packing everything and always insure items over $100 but should there be anything else I should be doing to protect myself incase of a situation like this or has anyone dealt with it before?

Basic answers...
Didn't get it ----> if tracking shows delivered, you are in pretty good shape.....
Not As Described ----> You will provide a return label and be obligated to refund when return is received...

·1 year agoThe account you have posted from has sold under 500 items. If they were over 23 years that is under 20 items per year. You have three sales in the past 90 days for amounts which are not trivial.
This is not an overwhelming number of sales and depending on the pattern of sales and when the last sales occurred, you might be a high risk seller and subject to holds.
Your 100% FB is meaningless. FB is not an objective measure of seller performance. Many sellers have FB which is based on bad luck or rotten buyers and meet Ebay's objective criteria used for seller evaluation better than other sellers with 100% FB.
Unlike the old days, trust on all internet marketplaces now must be earned. Holds are commonplace.
The number of Ebay sellers is huge and the number of bad sellers is higher than in the past.

OP1 year agoYeah I’m just a low valued seller I get that but it is frustrating when I do sell on here, I guess what people say is right it’s more geared towards big sellers or companies nowadays.

I would say it is geared toward sellers who understand the policy on holds and accept it.

·1 year agoThe last time you received feedback as a seller was more than a year ago, and while it's possible you had a sale more recently than that (before these recent 3), I'm not seeing any visible in your sales history, so it's been a while. As @eburtonlab said, scammers love to gain access to establish but dormant-looking accounts, because that previous selling history makes buyers less wary. Your payments are being held for eBay's protection and your buyers.

OP1 year agoYeah I didn’t think it was that long since I sold something but I see now, I tend to use multiple other places if I can help it because of how much EBay takes. Thanks for all the input!

·1 year agoIt's a 30 day hold to make sure you don't bolt with the money. EBay considers you a new seller regardless of how long you've been around. As a buyer you can only have positive feedback and selling feedback is calculated yearly.
If you get too impatient or confrontational they might start asking for receipts of everything you're selling.
Just wait it out.

OP1 year agoYeah but I been selling all these years. Where do you get I’m only a buyer? I’ve sold cars, bikes, car parts, engines, and everything else. I mean the only thing I could think is there was a gap inbetween selling but I don’t think it’s been too long.

·1 year agoAccounts that have not sold in a while are prime targets for being hijacked and used for scams. eBay wants to be sure that you are the original account holder and not some hacker that just took over your selling account.

OP1 year agoI mean I understand I haven’t sold anything in the last year. I understand someone could have hacked my account (which I called a could have been easily confirmed). I understand some of you guys sell tons of small items with lower value which is fine. I usually only sell when I get a few things together and have the time for it. And it’s frustrating to deal with this is all I’m saying. I’m basically venting and seeing if other like me feel the same not people with 5000k trickets or book sold no offense. When I shipped things they could cost $100’s of dollars and if I pay out of pocket and sell tens of things that could be enough out of pocket that I don’t see fair. At least release shipping costs.

·1 year agoJust a little help for your future sales.
You can use your "Pending Funds" to pay for your postage/labels at ebay shipping. (so that is a non-factor)
Another point...regardless (almost) of where you list, you will probably be subject to some scrutiny/hold/etc.... not due to the platform, but to the rules dictated to the platform by the cc processors...
what was "the norm" a year ago (any platform) has probably been "updated" or "changed" by a policy update or a change in the Terms and Conditions that none of us ever read.

·1 year agoPirateShip and similar services are fine to use, but yes, in order to use your pending funds you'd have to buy the labels through eBay. It works very similarly and you would still print them the same way.
As for if someone claims something you ship them isn't what you listed, you just accept the return and wait until you get it back to refund them. While they could ship back something else, the percentage of orders where you'll have a problem like that is typically very low. If you do run into anything odd, just come back here and ask for advice and we can help you navigate any problems!

·1 year agoThat is correct. ebay rates are generally similar to pirateship, shipstation, etc....but you can use the funds on hold to pay for the shipping....and the interface is not bad.

·1 year agoAs a long-established seller, sounds like you need to brush up on your eBay policies. Glad you are here in the forums asking, because when eBay shut down the customer service call centers during the pandemic, they were never restored to their pre-pandemic usefulness. Better info can be had here, by far. There are multiple reasons your payouts may be held, including a sudden change in listing/selling history, a case or refund is opened by a buyer, etc. Below is a link to the full policy details.
