Ebay Stole $206 gift card from my account

I don't know what I'm supposed to do, this happened on October 19th, i was trying to make a purchase with 2 of my gift cards of $198CAD each and i was trying to buy an item from the US, there were import charges so i had to use my debit card too. but when i clicked on confirm and pay it failed but i got charged $206 on my gift card balance and ever since then I've been trying to get my money back, i called support at least 20 times every single time i get braindead idiots, they don't even know what to do, i escalated the issue to a supervisor same thing, they transferred me to the gift cards team and they did 2 investigations and they don't even know where the money went.
I'm soo frustrated by this, $206 is a lot of money for me, is there anyone who i can talk to who actually works at eBay and not in random call centers? what are my options? i tried Facebook chat, twitter chat, eBay chat support, and eBay call center support, i saw a thread which had almost the same situation and someone said it might be a glitch with their system as the currency exchange rate is different when issuing the refund for a failed purchase, if thats the case is there a way to get it resolved?
Any pointers or help is appreciated

·3 weeks agoYeah you aren't the only one with this issue.
It seems to be some Authorization Payment Error that results in giftcard balance being withdrawn and it voids the giftcard balance, even though the purchase never went through.
It's really stupid and this needs to be fixed.

·2 years agoI'm confused. You said you were making a purchase. The payment failed. Then you said you were charged $206 on your gift card balance. Sounds like a payment method failed so they took it from your gift card balance.
There's nothing you can do after so long a time. Least not on eBay.

·2 years agoI reported them to the FTC when they stole my balance. reportfraud.ftc.gov You can also report them to the BBB and your state attorney general. If you are in California, the state has laws that can force them to give back your gift card balance. It would be interesting to see if someone could go to California and get the gift card balance back through California law.

·3 weeks agoMaybe it has been resolved satisfactory – maybe it hasn’t. Regardless, someone with similar experience tagging onto the post is a good thing. It shows that it might be a lingering issue – not just a one off that happened to one person.
