eBay still boycotting PayPal, thus losing money, sellers, & buyers too.
eBay is still having its childish spat with PayPal, the largest and most popular online choice for sending or receiving money securely all over the world. I used to use eBay + PayPal a few times a month for 20 some years, both buying and selling. I even bought a car on eBay. But since their short-sighted anti-PayPal edict went into effect, I have completely left eBay to the dustbin of history. Oh, well nothing can last forever.

If you believe that how is the greatest country on earth stay the greatest?
Who is going to pay for the first responders, teachers, roads, parks, food stamps for the poor, social security, stadiums for sports teams, military, foreign aid to Ukraine, immigrants, border security, airports, shooting down balloons from China, Medicaid, Medicare, SSDI, windmills, earned income credit, public transportation, bike paths, national parks, the arts, vaccines, airports, courts, freedom of speech, and etc. I'm sure you like everyone else benefits.

·3 years agoI was very pleased a couple weeks ago to have the state dept of fish and game come by to pick up an injured owl I found at night in the road. I felt our taxes actually are going to something good. we have to schedule trips to National Parks now Americans love them so much. One solution is to put a .0025% transaction tax on each stock market transaction. If they want to flash a laser fine they have to pay a tax on it. text messaging could be taxed either individually or on bandwidth measurement. Also, they can tax people's movements by measuring their cell phones. They could charge you more for entering the City of London or Midtown Manhattan at certain times of day.
I pay my taxes, but it never seems to end.

·3 years agoShipping has never been free. It was never just "granted" to anyone by the government or tech industry. That's moot.
As far as sales taxes, it was hard to implement them into the ecommerce system because the various states differ so much. It also was never meant to be "free". Where ecommerce had been a relatively small part of the market in the past, the pandemic pushed it to the forefront FAST. So states deserve no tax revenue? How do they then operate at all?

·3 years agoThe states deserve tax revenue from sellers that have a presence in the state collecting the taxes and they operated just fine. The SD v. Waifar decision as well as the Marketplace Facilitator laws have allowed the states to tap into a revenue stream that they had been lusting after for years, but were unable to legally touch. After a short period of turmoil as everyone adjusted, they got their windfall from tax collection payments for transactions that did not originate within their borders.

·3 years agoIt was so easy for awhile. There was a period where the techfascists by which I mean the technology Trusts in combination with Government worked to give privilege to ecommerce so people would adapt to it. Free shipping, sales tax free, no reporting to IRS, etc etc - all fantasies of a world just beyond the curtain that has now closed.

·3 years agoNot long after that divorce PP raised their fees quite significantly too. I remember their policy update saying something like "If you disagree with these terms, please feel free to close your account."
I remember thinking "Just... Wow".

I have heard that PP chose to part ways. Good to have the "official word".
