Ebay seller
Selling on Ebay is like getting poked in the eye with a stick. Trying to get my money from them feels like getting kicked in the nuts. I am 1 and done all they need is to involve PayPal so it can be torture.

·10 months agoWhat do you do when one enjoy's pain - aka a challenge or read up on what you agreed to do?? = less pain - eBay never said that selling was easy but you have to play by their rules. Best way to learn anything is via your eye sight (80% of what we learn 10 % by doing)) - some one giving you the answer or hearing about 8%. 'tis way the team work learn fails when 1 or two members of the team does all the work but the team get all the same grade. Real life says you are measure for you own performance.

So, you have tried lots of sites and like FBMP the best. Then that is where you should sell. No fees, no shipping, no worries about returns.
Not sure what rebuilding hot water heaters has to do with selling your stuff but at least that gives you an income to pay your bills, so don't give that up.

OP10 months agoI have tried a lot of sites I still like fb marketplace. Seems lately people are listing things so cheap I can't sell. I'm not selling something that should be 80 for 10. I can do rebuilt hot water heaters all day. If the tank is good new electrical is 35 dollars. I get 150 or 125 all day .

·10 months agoIf I was selling large bulky items I would not be using a worldwide/nationwide listing venue. I would use FB Marketplace or some other primarily local venue. But I would not sell bulky items or have anyone pick up from my home, so I don't use FB Marketplace.

·10 months agoAl new sellers go through a newbie period like this. It is so noted in the eBay User Agreement you signed when you became an eBay member..

Sell more and faster will shorten you payment releases. It pays to know the rules of the game. Kinds a like that "probation period employers see if one is going to cut the mustard.

·10 months agoYou have a 30 day waiting period if you are a new seller or inactive seller. Everything in regards to funds delay is in policy.

·10 months agoeBay is not a venue for a new seller who wants a quick payout.
Buyers have 30 days to return an item for "not as described", and 6 months or more to file a chargeback with their financial institution.
In these cases, if a seller got his funds and were to cancel his credit card or close his bank account, that would leave eBay on the hook for refunding the buyer.
So naturally, eBay wants to keep the seller on the hook for the refund as long as possible, until eBay's statistical analysis of the transaction indicates that it is relative "safe" from having to refund the buyer out of eBay's pocket.

·10 months agoI believe it's Adyen who get the interest as they are handling funds at the direction of eBay. Anyway, the short answer is Yes, something they have confirmed in print. In the past, they said they did not make money in interest, but they have now done a 180 on that.

·10 months agoProbably. But IMHO that is not the primary reason they put holds on new sellers.
I have been selling for two decades and currently have 6 selling accounts and 1200+ listings. eBay hasn't put a hold on my funds for at least 10 years.
If eBay's goal was to make money by holding funds and collecting interest, I would be a much better target than a new seller.

·10 months agoThanks. I understand how eBay makes the biggest part of their revenue, and I understand the reasons for holds on new accounts. I just figured if some money is held in these cases, eBay would probably find a way to invest it and make a few extra bucks.

·10 months agoNo....... it is like a 90 day probation period in the real world (cut the mustard or your gone)- read up and then there s none of this going on or simply do estate/garage/flea market, face book, Craig List selling etc.

·10 months agoEbay does place a hold on funds of new or infrequent sellers. You opened your account two years ago, so I'm assuming it's the latter. They will release it eventually. ·10 months agoYou must be fairly new, Paypal used to be Ebay's payment portal.
When they got rid of Paypal and decided to use an in-house payment portal our fees dropped *slightly* (huge keyword there, I believe the drop in fees was less than one percent), also the new payment portal isn't exactly in-house either but that's another story.
