Ebay Payouts account confirmation
I have been a seller on Ebay since 1999 and been doing Ebay Payments since they started Ebay payments. I get my payout every Tuesday like clockwork. Today for the first time they asked me to verify my payout account out of the blue and have frozen my payout for tomorrow. I need my **bleep** money and am **bleep**. NOTHING has changed with my bank account, routing number or bank used. What the hell is Ebay doing? They are about to tick me off to a point where I walk. Anybody have any info???

Ebay implemented a policy in the past year, I think, requiring Sellers to submit a photo ID for verification purposes; drivers license, passport, govt ID. I sold a few items last Fall, got my funds November 8th, ‘22.
I recently listed items early March, sold & shipped, now my account/payout is frozen until I COMPLY with their demand for a verification ID.
EBAY should restrict any sellers not in ID “compliance†at the time they list an item, so you can choose at that point, not freeze your funds after the fact!
I will not comply! I did offer to sign an affidavit that I am who say I am, that my name, address, Tax ID (already have my SS#) is accurate, for purposes of sending out a 1099 if you sell more than the newly implemented $600 threshold.
i think a Class Action Law Suit is likely. Sign me up!

Your anger is directed towards the wrong entity.....
Part of the Omnibus Bill...
Passed in Dec 2022....
The INFORM act will require marketplaces to verify and annually certify the government ID, tax ID, bank account information, and contact information for . "high-volume" third-party sellers....

·3 years agoeBay is required by federal regulations to do periodic verification of account holders' identities when it comes to financial transactions. The fines for not complying are in the millions.
With respect to "walking" wherever you walk to, has to comply with the same regulations.

·3 years agoThat explains this seemingly rather new action by eBay. My wife's selling account got the notice to verify this morning and we did not notice eBay explaining why they were asking for the verification. Thank you.

Could eBay be caught up in this Bank (SVB) failure mess and are "Freezing" accounts to preserve cash flow?
