eBay holdin funds and suspending the account of a mentally handicapped man
My uncle, who is handicap, has been selling on eBay as a way of helping make a living for 11 years. He suffers from a mental handicap that affects his comprehensive understanding of things drastically sometimes. And the less detail that is offered the worse it is for him. He has been a great seller on eBay for years, but something happened that got his account restricted and then eventually during the review and definitely restricted. eBay is holding over $2000 in sales funds that belong to him. All of his orders have been confirmed delivered and always have been delivered on time. He has a good seller rating and is considered above standard by eBay as a seller. I don’t understand why they have restricted account, then ending it in the first place and they will not offer him any explanation, which really puts him in distress mentally when this happens. But everything delivered and all the buyers happy, why can’t eBay release this money to a man who depends on it. Who has made a business that he thought depend on and all of a sudden after 11 years it is snatched away from him in an instant. He really needs his money to cover cost of living and this has him very upset and lost. I am trying to help him out by posting this message on this feed for him, it seem like it was worth a shot. Does anybody know away that he can speed this process up or what he needs to do from here? Thank you.

·3 years agoThe bottom line is, there is no way to speed up the process by posting here. No one here has any concrete knowledge or authority to do so. You should be dealing with eBay CS directly on this matter. I would guess it has to do with a defect or the Managed Payment account is not set up correctly. Anyone replying here is just guessing and can not offer any real advice, including myself. In other words, not getting you what you need for your uncle. Good luck.

·3 years agoI think your uncle is lucky to have an apparently younger and highly capable relative that cares enough to attempt to assist him, kudos to you on that part. We should all be so lucky. Moving forward you should consider dropping the mental issues portion of your claim because your uncle is a longtime seller who needs the money, just like every other longtime seller on this platform. His mental issues, while a dominant part of HIS life, isn't the point of his account having outstanding funds and will become a distraction if overly used. You risk losing sympathy rather than gaining it. Make the point that he has outstanding money owed to him is all.
This platform doesn't simply withhold funds for no reason, so either you don't want to be forthcoming as to the real reason (and you shouldn't on a public forum), or you actually don't know what that is. You need to find out what the real reason is for the funds being withheld. Only then can you really move forward to get your uncle his money back.
Hopefully your uncle, with your help, will be able to find an alternative way to continue making extra money for his living expenses. I wish you and your uncle all the best of luck....

·3 years agoHe should go to MY EBAY and look for a message from Ebay. There is always a reason. It's possible that his spam blocker blocked the email on his email account but if he looks at messages in MY EBAY, it will be there.
Did he give ebay his valid ID, his bank account information and his social security number to set up his MANAGED PAYMENTS? The names on all 3 MUST be identical. You can't be Robert Smith on one and Bob Smith on anothe one.
Finally, I would suggest that he contact Ebay on Facebook. He is going to click MESSAGE (Messenger) and give his name , email address and Ebay ID. He should explained what happened. In a day or so, someone from Ebay Facebook will contact him. Hopefully, they can solve this problem and reinstate him. If he needs help contacting them, please help him. I see that you have alot of ebay feedback. Goodluck.

·3 years agoThey give you a reason why they restrict your account. Was he restricted because initially they asked for receipts? Maybe a buyer complained to eBay his item was not authentic. eBay will temporarily restrict you and ask for receipts. Then if the receipts can't prove authenticity they make it indefinitely. That's the kiss of death.,,,,,,,,,,,,
Maybe something happened when he was having an episode when his mental state was diminished.
We can't see his messages.
We can't see his ID to see what he's sold.
Sometimes seeing their feedback and what they've sold is helpful.
We don't know if they told him if he was a risk to the community.
We don't know if he buys on the same account and he did something wrong from that end.
Having him here to question is helpful.
However, at this point KNOWING why serves no purpose because indefinitely means forever. They don't want you to know in case you try to come back and do it right.
Now for the bad, very bad news. If eBay can link your account to his then you'll be suspended, too.

·3 years agoSorry to hear about your uncle, but its difficult to say what happened without seeing his selling id. Has he canceled a lot of transactions using the out of stock option? That is the kiss of death for Ebay sellers, and there is no way to come back from that. As far as releasing his funds, Ebay should have given a timeline for that. If not, the funds will eventually be released to his states unclaimed property division. Sorry I dont have better news.
