Choosing PayPal autopay for auctions/offers also forces that method for BIN fixed price
So ebay has seemingly rolled out autopay for auctions and best offer to most users now and many sellers have been automatically opted in. If you set up the payment method as PayPal, then when you go to checkout for a buy-it-now fixed price listing, that payment method will be the only PayPal option you will have. You would normally choose PayPal and then have many options (PayPal balance, multiple credit cards linked to the PayPal account, split-tender, pay-in-4, etc). So to get that back, you have to delete the PayPal autopay from your account (under Payments in Account Settings). Of course then you have to sign up again when you bid on an auction or make an offer, and then re-delete it again when you want to pay for a buy-it-now over and over again.

·2 years agoThis is a problem that PayPal users will have to live with.
Special code to support PayPal is disappearing since PayPal adds to value added to the transaction from an Ebay or Seller Point of View.
It is an out of date artifact of a previous Ebay mistake.

·2 years agoSorry; I don't see the problem. Pick a card, any card- and use it while using Paypal and EVERY purchase, be it an 'Offer' an 'Auction' a 'Buy It Now' will be charged to Paypal and use THAT card.
Again, I fail to see the issue.

OP2 years agoIssue is you may want to use a different payment method depending on the purchase, or split-tender, or pay over time with paypal credit. The solution for most people is going to be avoiding auctions/offers with the autopay enabled.
