Checkout Glitch: "Add new card" unresponsive & auto-charges without confirmation

I wanted to report a critical bug and a genuinely horrific user experience I just had with the eBay checkout flow.
I was trying to add a new credit card during checkout, but the "Add new card" radio button was completely unresponsive. The other payment options worked, but I could not select the option to add a new card at all.
To get around this, I opened my account settings in a new tab and added the card to my "Payments" wallet directly. When I reopened a new checkout tab, things got worse. Instead of showing a list of my saved cards and letting me choose one, the checkout screen loaded with "Add new card" preselected and assuming there would be a new page or something to select which of my cards to use I clicked forward thru what was probably the "Complete Your Checkout" button but it completely bypassed card selection. It instantly pushed the payment straight through using the card I had just added in the background.
While it technically charged the card I intended to use, a broken payment button combined with an auto-submit that skips the final confirmation page is a massive design failure. It gave me zero chance to review the source of the funds or select a different saved card, which could easily lead to accidental or incorrect purchases.
Has anyone else run into this issue recently?

·1 month agoSame issue, except it automatically selected the WRONG credit card which if used will cause me some trouble. I immediately cancelled the order, but it is up to the seller to do this. The message says they have 7 days to respond. So now I can't re-order without the possibility of two charges. There should be a grace window where mistakes like this can be fixed immediately.

If that works better, try manually erasing just your eBay cookies in the original browser and see if that allows you to add or select a new payment method at checkout.

·1 month agoSame problem. All payment methods respond when clicked except "Add new card." Even tried cycling the focus manually using the keyboard, and the option will be circled, but unlike the others, you cannot select. Don't know why that is, but it's just money ebay isn't getting from me until it gets fixed...

·1 month agoI am having the same issue. I have a bid and wanted to change my card. Every single time I trying to change my card it comes up try later error. On my bid I have no payment showing now. Called eBay what a joke got 5 people knew nothing and one did. He stated there has been a technical issue processing payments on credit cards bids and buy it now since Friday. No fix in sight. Like to know what to do when a bid ends.

·1 month agoI've been experiencing the same issue. I prefer not to store or save a card, and I would rather add one each time I check-out. I'm not comfortable with storing cards on any site, nit just this one.

·1 month agoI’ve had nearly the same problem.
1.) Cannot see or use my added credit cards — NOT showing up like they used to (they are still present in the user settings) — this is something that has started within the last 2-4 days i think. I had one purchase yesterday that i had to complete via apple pay instead of my directly added credit cards.
2.) The Add new card is completely unresponsive.
