Charged for label when I have it set for buyers to pay shipping costs
A little confused here, I have my auctions all set to calculated shipping that the buyer pays but this month I was charged directly to my bank account (which I have only just realized after the fact thanks for the heads up ebay!). I do not really understand what is going on here because I thought all selling fees were deducted from the sale and if you have it set for the buyer to pay for a shipping label through ebay it comes from the money they put up for that. Am I confused and that is not how it works or did ebay just randomly decide to stiff me for $4.80?
Does the shipping label money actually come from your account and not the money the buyer puts up when purchasing? I did have a pay out not long before that. If its relevant I don't use any options that apply additional fees just the bare minimum ebay lets you get away with which should well be covered by any sales but I did receive a payout not long before that from my previous sale. Any clarification would be helpful I just find it confusing that I have everything set up to bare minimum fees but somehow am still getting charged to my bank account, if that is how it works I would rather them not automatically cash the money out each month particularly if they aren't going to warn me before taking money out as I live paycheck to paycheck.

If you have pending transactions, occasionally it may withdraw funds from your linked source to cover a cost, such as shipping. You can also specify where eBay draws the funds to pay for shipping directly. In your case, perhaps its set to pull it from your linked source, rather than the sold funds. You can adjust that, but it still will balance out.
This is normal depending on how you have it setup.

In the end, it should all balance out. What you sold it for, the amount paid for shipping, what you paid to buy the label, the fees charged for the transaction, etc.

Check the details of the charge in your tranaction report...it might be additional charge added to the original estimate after the fact from USPS (a correction)

OP11 months agoAs far as I can tell there were no additional USPS fees as the shipping and shipping label fees match. I think the issue is I got a payout from a previous sale (taking my balance to 0) the same day before I bought the shipping label so there were no funds in my ebay account and I misunderstood and thought that the shipping portion from the buyer was paid up front or that ebay wouldn't cash out the funds necessary to pay for the shipping label but I guess that is just how my monthly payout timed out.
This answer was still really helpful to me anyway as I did not even have the seller hub activated before this I swear eBay has 5 different interfaces for everything with slightly different menu options.
