Buyer Purchase Dispute
I had a buyer dispute an eBay charge for my item saying they don't recognize it. eBay automatically said I'm protected. I've never had this happen before, so for if I ever come across this again, I looked at the policy. I'm genuinely perplexed.. How would it be a sellers fault that a buyer doesn't recognize a charge to their financial institution? I can understand instances of doing something shady or not fulfilling your duties as a seller causing the buyer to fight back, essentially. But, if you do everything right, what makes eBay feel warranted charging the seller a dispute fee? Maybe my comprehension skills have momentarily lasped but, the policy doesn't really seem clear as to where the line is drawn of who's responsible when everything is done right. Is someone willing to dumb it down so I can understand?

·10 months ago1st; the dispute fee comes from the bank ($20) so it is simply passed on to the seller
2nd; sellers are NOT protected from 'chargebacks' and ebay cannot 'protect' you in any way. The bank decides. Ebay can do a 'courtesy' to you and cover it, but won't come often or every time.
Accepting credit cards an entity has to 'accept and abide by' a banks decision on a charge back.
3rd: a 'buyer' can say they don't recognize because they are either
a.) a lying thief
b.) card was stolen and/or used without their knowledge
c.) buyer is a dolt and just didn't remember

eBay provides seller protection against that exact type of chargeback (they refer to it as a payment dispute):

When a buyer opens a payment dispute because they didn't receive the item or they don't recognize the transaction, sellers will be asked to provide:
