Auto pay is ignorant. Period.
I don't care about any of the "but some bidders don't pay" arguments. You can get that with any type of auction.
What I have a problem with is the fact that if you're looking to buy multiple items and get combined shipping, then autopay messes that right up.
It's not consistent, sometimes something autopays and sometimes it doesn't. But if you have sellers offering combined shipping, it completely screws up that whole dynamic and is counterproductive to the entire process.
Get. Rid. Of. Autopay. It's that simple. There is a risk of people not paying, sure. Hasn't killed the site in the decades it's been around, so it's a moot point.
Implement a penalty for non payment. Fines or a ban. Don't set up an ignorant system like autopay because it makes zero sense. Period. That's a fact.

·2 years agoThe seller gets to choose.
Some do not care about whether you get to combine shipments and whether you buy from them.
Others are aware of the potential of getting more of your money and do not use the feature.
You get to decide whether you wish to try to do business with that seller, some will not.

OP2 years agoI always message before hand. That's irrelevant.
A lot of people simply don't notice.
There's too much unnecessary nonsense with selling anyway. For example, having to go in and recheck "do not allow offers" every time you relist.
If you didn't accept offers the first time, then it shouldn't default to offers in the relisting of an item.
Yet one of many ignorant, unnecessary things. Like the stupid search function.
People don't need their results "streamlined". It actually removes listings that include your keywords. Not to mention some listings that are exactly what you're looking for still get weeded out no matter what you do. I've experienced it and have screenshots somewhere.
The point is that Ebay is getting absurd with this nonsense and it needs to stop.

OP2 years agoNo it doesn't. It's pointless and unnecessary.
There's zero reason for it.

·2 years agoI guess I hit the right sellers...I have not experienced "auto-pay". But I have credit cards on file and a banking account on file. And I usually pay in a day. And I have never not pay.
And I bid on domestic and well as International.

·2 years agoThat's an option the seller can use and you can always message them before bidding/making an offer to see if they use it or not.
chanfan304
OP2 years agoYeah, and sellers have enough to mess with without having to fool with that, too.
I do message people beforehand. And yet it will still autopay on sellers that offer combined shipping.
I'm also a seller and the point still stands. Your message is not helpful, and just condones this ridiculous practice.

·2 years agowrong I did just that asked the seller why auto pay was used they claimed they had nothing to do with it that ebay did it on there own with out either ones consent,,ebay has lost another buyer and seller they just keep going down hill fast,,if you are smart you would do the same,
