When you purchased the card at CVS, did you happen to examine the strip on the back of the card that covers the security code?
It looks like that information was stolen (prior to your purchase) by a thief who then replaces the strip then they wait for the card to be activated and quickly make a purchase before you have a chance to use the card.
This is not Ebay, Inc. This is a community discussion forum for buyers and sellers.
No one her can cancel that transaction from your Vanilla Card either. You need to contact whom ever your purchased it from or that companies customer service department.
My honest opinion is that ALL gift cards of ALL types have become a big red flag that you are about to be SCAMMED. If someone asks you pay with one...it is a scam. I you buy one outside of a retail outlet where you can see them load/activate the card...it's likely a scam.
You are buying a piece of plastic, and you get a piece of plastic. The rest is outside your control.
eBay can't cancel a purchase someone else made on your gift card.
You will have to contact the store you bought it from. Generally there are no refunds on a Vanilla gift card. (Or any other gift card) Gift cards are like cash.
If this were a credit card you could report the unauthorized use by calling your card issuer.
