Can someone please help me. I have sold a couple items and my account is restricted and the email I received they are wanting a copy of my driver license, some bill with my address and proof of purchase from the manufacturer where I purchased the items I've sold. I don't know why I keep getting this but I'm not a business I am on a fixed income and I find things on the side of the road or yard sales or something like and fix and or repair and then sale them. So how the heck do I fix this because eBay has been zero help for months now .. I need funds released so I can eat.... Fml thanks for any help

·4 months ago@jjp462 I find people who ship out their orders don't run into problems like yours.
I think eBay rightly restricted your account.

·4 months agoAccording to your feedback you are not shipping items that you have sold?
You have to actually ship the items or you aren't going to get paid and you are probably going to be permanently kicked off eBay soon.

A bit off topic, but could it be that your feedback is so bad (non-shipment) that it tripped some trigger or something? 🤔

·4 months agoIf you sold items as NEW, that yard sale argument has no traction.
It is true a lot of sellers believe that the definition of NEW is that it looks NEW. And that open box means it has a box and it is not sealed.

·4 months agoWhat eBay is asking for is usually part of their identity and seller verification process, not necessarily because they think you are doing something wrong. Even casual sellers can get flagged if they regularly buy, repair, and resell items.
The driver license and utility bill are normally just to verify your identity and address. The difficult part is the “proof of purchase” request because you are finding items roadside, at yard sales, or thrift stores, so you often won’t have receipts.
What you should probably do is:
• Upload the ID and address documents they requested.
• For proof of purchase, explain honestly in writing that the items were acquired from yard sales, thrift stores, roadside pickups, flea markets, or personal property and that receipts are not available.
• If you do have any thrift store receipts, Facebook Marketplace messages, yard sale screenshots, or similar records, upload those.
The important thing is not to ignore the request. Accounts often stay restricted until documentation is submitted and reviewed.
Also, going forward, keep receipts for anything you plan to resell. Even casual flipping can trigger verification requirements now because marketplaces are under pressure to reduce fraud and stolen goods sales.
Unfortunately, eBay’s automated systems are not always great at distinguishing between a casual side hustle and a formal business.

·4 months agoIf you're buying at yard sales to resell, you should be getting a receipt for your taxes.

·4 months agoYou have to be joking. 40+ years of yard sales and never a reciept.

·4 months agoNo, I always get a receipt if I buy something at a yard sale to resell.
I used to carry a receipt book around just for that.

·4 months agoYou are sure causing yourself a lot of unnecessary work and money. The IRS does not require you to obtain a receipt from someone at a yard sale. A simple log is all that is needed and only if the IRS audits you, which they probably won't as long as what you submit to the IRS makes sense.
Example:
5/30/26 Yard Sale, 123 Main St., Any City, VA. $10.00
5/30/26 Yard Sale, 2948 Valley Ave., Any City, VA 0.50¢
6/6/26 Estate Sale, Bill's Estates & Auctions, 29171 Highway 25, Any City, VA $194.00
When I get home, I copy that over into a spredsheet. If you meet certain requirements, you don't have to keep an inventory. You can deduct your entire cost of goods at the time you buy it. I do keep an inventory so I can track more accurately how much I'm making, so I input each item I buy into that software.

·4 months agoI don't think this seller will be here much longer anyway. Most of their feedback is negative saying they never shipped items. If all those buyers opened INR cases the seller is probably on the way out.
