25-year seller, first return hold ever — how do I get the hold lifted?
I've sold on eBay for twenty-five years with a clean record. Last week, for the first time ever, they put a hold on my funds because of a return. It's creating a serious cash flow problem. How do I get the hold lifted or qualify for the no-hold program?"

·1 week agoeven though this is a week old, it can depend on the type of return and/or if the buyer reached out to ebay in the process.
so it "depends" on the "conditions" of the return. Other than it really has nothing to do with anything....

·1 week agoEbay is holding even sellers who never had a problem. I am 'reviewed' as a high-quality seller, never had a negative review or a sale problem. NOTHING. EVER. EBAY held money consistently. Buyer happy, in writing, 5star reviews. Only use FEDEX signature required. buyers send 'thank you' in messaging, buyers review at the same time. All proven perfect record. EBAY holds all funds. Their claim is 'safe market place.' the REALITY is that they are using YOUR cash for 'overnight sweeps,' making more money on your hard work. In my case, selling treasured personal belongings to cover medical costs for cancer. They DO NOT CARE. the fees they have charged me have been insane, then hold on top of the fees. This is NOT 'safe' for sellers.

·3 weeks agoAfter 25 years without this happening, I can see why this feels confusing. When eBay placed the hold, did the payment page clearly show why the funds were being held, when they would be released, and whether there was anything you could do to speed that up?

·1 week agoThere is NOTHING you can do to 'speed it up.' I am a high-rated seller, never had a single bad review, and all buyers satisfied. EBAY is using everyone's money in overnight sweeps (banking profits on international money market) and keeping your high-sale values for their own profits, in ADDITION to their high fees. I spent hours trying to work with EBAY, and they care not. YOU have -0- ability to get real support on this problem. I use Fedex, signature required, and request buyers to immediately message that all is good, which ebay surveils. They can see all 5stars and positive comments. They do NOT CARE. Don't expect help on this. Keeping your cash is another profit tack for them. I'm selling treasured personal items I've had for years, cover cancer medical bills. One of their tech support requested a 'manual release.' IGNORED.

·1 week agoThanks — this is exactly what I’m trying to understand. Knowing why funds are held is one thing; actually getting them released is the real problem.
If you’re open to it, I’d like to look at one real hold case with you: amount held, reason eBay showed, expected release date, and what happened with the manual-release request.
No password or account access needed. I want to see whether there is a legitimate way to actually change the outcome, not just explain the hold.

·3 weeks agoSince you provide no details I am going to guess that the return involved an expensive item and that you do not sell other items very often.
It's just a math problem if you have money coming in regularly that can cover any returns you probably won't run into having a hold put on your funds.
Your only way out is to sell lots of items regularly.

·1 week agoEach transaction should stand on its own. I have -0- returns, and they are holding all my funds as well. buyers give 5star reviews, fedex signature required on all. EBAY still holding.
