Ebay has my funds on hold so I can't send a refund.
Summary: ok91_65 expressed frustration over not being able to refund a buyer on eBay due to funds being held until the buyer is refunded. rutri_59 shared confusion over a similar situation where they approved a refund and were asked to purchase a return label. They later received only a partial refund and are unsure if this is because the buyer hasn't returned the item.
Ebay won't release my funds until buyer is refunded. But can't refund him until funds are released.

·3 weeks agoI am so confused with this! a buyer requested a refund, it looked like I had one choice only: approve it, which I did. then it said 'now purchase the label and send to buyer". I purchased snd then got the 'completed' msg. it has been 3 days since and now I got a fraction of the entire sale, which I dont understand why. is this because the buyer isnt sending back the item? how is this fair? so distraught and confused

·10 months agoPretty much same situation with me. Buyer wanted a refund but I couldn't issue one so they opened a case and eBay ruled in their favor, rightfully so because it looked like I never responded to the open case. I maintained communication with the buyer the entire time letting him know I couldn't issue a refund but the unresolved case still went against my seller rating. Just saying, "back in the day" this wouldn't have happened, I just hope all the changes eBay has made in the recent years are benefiting both buyers and sellers.

·2 years agoWhen you add the credit card, the held funds are used to pay the buyer. It is technically used to charge you a refund transaction cost and not make you pay the whole refund amount.

·2 years agoNo, if the funds are being held, they'll pull the funds from the credit card to cover the refund.

·2 years agoSame with me! They never released the funds, they were supposed to on 8th July but didn't. I tried to issue refund before and it said no funds and wants my debit card info! Absolutely not!

·2 years agoIf the buyers payment is being held, you have to pay the refund, then the buyers payment will be sent to you.

·2 years agoBuyer is not getting the product they purchased because it is no longer available. Buyer's funds are on hold. with Ebay, how do I return the funds?

You will have to put funds into your checking account or add a credit card for the refund.

It will take some time, not sure how long, but eventually you will be made whole.

·2 years agoYes, when the hold is released, the funds will be sent to the checking account you provided.

·2 years agoWe have to refund a buyer for an iphone that we can't ship because it is full of pictures and it won't back up it hangs halfway through. But, $179 or so was spent by my brother on something else and the seller won't refund it and said to contact ebay and we are short to refund the buyer and the funds are on hold and we have no other payment method to add to ebay, just a debit card that is controlled by our cousin and might not work on ebay because certain things are blocked on it. We had the account since 2015 and don't want to lose it but now we are in a pickle and the refund isn't working properly. We had accounts before 2015 but they got NARU'd. $800 is a lot of money for somebody to lose. They already started a not received claim.

·2 years agoIf the funds are on hold, you have to cover the refund until the buyers payment is released.

·2 years agoHello so what ended up happening how was the refund resolved im having the same dilemma tried to refund but I don’t have. Available funds do I just wait for eBay to just send the money back

·4 years agoSo basically, they are holding that money for the buyer. When the item is returned you can send a refund (from the held money). They are holding it because it's now the buyers money and not yours so you can't send it to your bank. There's nothing to worry about. They do this as protection for the buyer and so you have the money to send a refund through the proper (send refund return page). I hope that helps. I get returns all the time and that is why they hold that money.

·3 years agoThis has happened to me yesterday, my funds are on hold, I received the item back from the buyer, clicked the received button, it then said pay refund, I clicked refund and it said refund unsuccessful use other payment method, so I sent a message to customer support and as of this morning I haven’t received a reply I am very worried and really don’t know what to do next.
