Seller Feedback
Summary: robpas_11 expressed concerns over a fake Global Vegetable Knife purchased on eBay and mentioned leaving negative feedback for the seller, which has not appeared. robpas_11 wondered if the seller or eBay can delete legitimate negative feedback. eoma689485 responded, explaining that the feedback might have violated eBay's feedback rules, prompting removal at the seller's request. They advised filing a 'not as described' complaint instead of immediately leaving feedback, as eBay policies allow buyers to return misrepresented items and ensure a refund. eoma689485 emphasized that feedback should be the final step after resolving issues via official complaint procedures.
I'm struggling a bit to understand how the seller feedback works on Ebay. I purchased a Global Vegetable Knife recently that when I received it was obviously fake (balance of knife way off and no sand in handle that Global adds to perfectly balance their knives). Shame on me as I should have known because the price was too good to be true for an "open box" item (the box it came in was not the global branded box that was pictured in the ad btw). I left negative feedback of the seller to warn others. The seller offered to allow me to return the knife for only $10 if I left positive feedback (though did not dispute the claim that the knife was fake). Since I only paid $23 for the knife it wasn't worth the hassle of returning. Anyway, i just checked the seller's feedback and my negative feedback is still not showing up (seller still has 99% positive feedback with only blemish being neutral). How can this be? Is ebay or the seller able to delete legitimate negative feedback? If that is the case, it gives me pause about doing any more business on ebay.

More than likely your feedback was removed by eBay at the request of the Seller - and for that to happen, you wrote something that was against eBay's rules for leaving feedback.
If an item arrives not as described, you open a not as described complaint, and it does not matter if the seller doesn't take returns, as that policy is just for Buyer's remorse. Once you open it, the seller should send you a return shipping label, and when you return the item, the seller will refund you, if not, eBay will force them to.
Leaving feedback is the last thing you do, not the first thing, and you have to abide by eBay's rules as to what you leave in the comment section.
