    What items make money

I have just recently started selling stuff on Ebay and I am wondering if there any suggestions as to what are "good sellers." I am recently retired and am looking for a somewhat steady form of income to supplement my retirement. Any suggestions would be helpful. Thank you.

The good sellers seem to attract a lot of scammers, so stay away from those unless you can afford to give it away.

How do you get "scammed" selling on Ebay?

I am going to hope that no one on this forum is going to list a how to list for scamming sellers.

There are many techniques which are used. And new sellers are targeted with greater frequency than experienced sellers.

If you are selling items which you can quickly turn into cash, they are more likely to make you a scammer target than a seller who is selling low demand items to a small group of buyers. Selling those fast moving items can generate a small profit for a seller who has them unless the seller has paid nothing, like a scammer would.

If you get a buyer willing to pay your price plus shipping for two reams of copy paper at the price they can buy 5 reams on Ebay or on sale at Staples for, you can expect they will find a way to scam you.

Look at what other sellers are selling and how much their 'monthly feedback 'is will give you an idea what sells.

Look at it in perspective first: what are the simplest items to package and ship....that's a first as a newbie plus get the experience selling cheapie items first.

I went from toys to stamps...very simple to package and ship. Toys shipping out was too much work.

Selling items that might break in shipping...scary for me to this day...I would never sell something glass or breakable.

    Good luck.

I hit my local thrift shops, garage sales and auctions. If you can afford it you can source wholesale sites online and buy bulk. If I'm at a store I take my phone, take a picture, and then search for how many are for sale, if there are many I usually pass up that item, if there isn't many listed I then go to the sold listings to see how much they sold for and make a decision from there. When pricing keep in mind the ebay fees, I just use 15% for everything (it varies a little depending on the category) also the shipping cost, shipping is ridiculously high, I don't think many buyers understand that.

    Hope that helps!

You are approaching this problem from the wrong point of view.

What do you know something about and can source at wholesale prices which buyers might want to buy.
