Shipping label cost?
I just sold on ebay for the first time and purchased the shipping label. My question is how did it work? Does it get taken out of the amount that of money that I sold the item for? The item was $29.99 and the shipping was like $7ish something. Would the amount ebay sends for my profit be the cost of the item minus the shipping cost?

·3 years agoEBAY deducts "selling fees" immediately and "holds back $7 shipping money for you to use when you print the label". EBAY selling fees charged on (purchase price + shipping + sales tax) plus 30 cent handling charge (balance of money is deposited into your checking account).
All new Sellers have a hold on their deposits (approximately 21 days). Once you have a good track record and sell a couple of items....you will have normal deposits 3-5 days AFTER sale is made.

·3 years agoYes, the label comes out of the money the buyer paid to Ebay. Once Ebay takes out their huge chunk you get what's left.

·3 years agoYes.............you had free shipping on the item........so the shipping will be deducted from the sale price paid....note that final value fees plus 30c (and the promotional fee if one was applicable) will also be deducted before they send you the payout........

You sold the item with Free shipping (green arrow). This means YOU pay for the shipping out of pocket from the money the Buyer paid you for the item. Use the Calculated setting on the listing so the Buyer pays you instead for the shipping cost.
Here is a link to your Payments page in Seller Hub, the Recent activity list is on the right (orange arrow - this is my page by the way NOT yours) and this will show what you paid for the shipping label when purchased through eBay funds.
You can use either eBay Funds OR PayPal to pay for labels.

OP3 years agoThank you for the response. I was Morse confused about how the total profits sent to me would be. I understood that I was paying for the shipping I was just confused about if it would be automatically taken out of what would be sent to me of if it would have been a separate transaction. If that makes sense.

·3 years ago@ventrillo No, it is not automatic, it ONLY comes out of your balance if YOU pay for it through eBay ...(as you can see on the one pic I supplied there is a line item for a shipping label I purchased using my eBay funds).
If you went to the Post Office and paid at the counter for a label NOTHING would come out of the money eBay sends you ... I hope that helps clarify it?

·3 years agoThe payment can come from 2 options:
A) Your Processing/Pending Funds (Total amount of the sale)
B) A Paypal Account (independent of the sale)
You can check by looking at your Transactions..it will indicate "Shipping label" if it was taken from your Pending Funds...
otherwise, it will have been taken out of your Paypal Acount
These options are selected on the Label Page when your purchased the label (down at the bottom)

free shipping it comes out of the money you made on your sale.
buyer pay, they paid extra money. The amount depends on what you set up on your listing. It would be included in the total amount.

·3 years agoTo clarify, whether it is free shipping or buyer paid shipping, it is still going to come out of the seller's ebay or Paypal account, depending on what was indicated when they printed the label.
