shipping charges
hate to tell you this but ebay charges sellers up to 16%+ on shipping charges, if you offer fre shipping anit cost you say $15 dollars to ship they will still charge the seller a % on your shipping even if you offer it free shipping.

·2 years agowhat makes this so bad is that Ebay already makes more money from the increased fees by USPS

·2 years agoYeah, this is basic and most sellers are aware. Business 101 would suggest that the seller works all costs, fees and overhead into the price So the buyer covers it.

·2 years agoIn the good ol' days, sellers on eBay used to sneakily list stuff for a dirt-cheap $0.99 and then hit buyers with crazy shipping fees to dodge higher eBay charges. Well, eBay got wise to that game and switched things up. Now they calculate fees based on the total amount, putting an end to the shenanigans. It's all about keeping it real, transparent, and giving everyone a fair shake.
Not the best news for us sellers, but hey, gotta play by the rules!

·2 years agoI lose 12.35% of the shipping to FVF but I save 20-30% of the shipping cost by buying the label through Ebay.

·2 years agoHmm, if you didn't lose the 12.35% of the shipping to FVF and eBay didn't offer the 20-30% discount, you could still save the 20-30% shipping discount through other services such as pirateship. 🙄

·2 years agoNo, ebay does not charge you shipping cost fee for shipping because the buyer does not pay a shipping cost on a free shipping listing.

·2 years agoHate to be the bearer of bad news...but,
Fact check:
from Mercari Site------>
Effective starting April 17, 2023, this fee is charged based on the item sold price plus shipping price for a completed sale and applied to all forms of payment received from the buyer. Note: The shipping price refers to both buyer and seller paid shipping using a Mercari label and Mercari Local delivery.
Fact check:
Mercari Fees 10% + 2.9% + .50 per transaction on total sale.

·2 years agoeBay's final value fee is calculated on the total amount paid to the seller by the buyer and that includes the item price, the shipping fee and the state sales tax, if applicable.
Yes, whether I sell an item for $90 plus $10 shipping or an item for $100 with free shipping, I will be charged the FVF on a total of $100 in each case.
This is clearly explained in more than one location on eBay.
Since you have been here since May of 2012, not sure why you had not noticed this before.

·2 years agoeBay has been charging fvf's on shipping for many years. We are all aware of it. Not sure how you weren't.
