·2 years agoThe name of the account isn't changing.
The names on the bank account will be changing but the bank account itself won't be changing.
We are allowed to change the banks attached to our selling accounts.
Sometimes the problem is asking too many questions instead of actually doing it.
Also, was your contact by phone?
If you decide to deal with eBay on this again, use the actual trained employees assigned to social media.
The phone reps have a terrible reputation for getting you off the phone as soon as possible even if that means giving you the advice you want to hear instead of the advice you need to have.

You will get a transcript which you can review to see if what you heard matches what you were told.

·2 years agoThere was a similar post on the UK forum. It didn't seem to be a clear cut no. Someone was selling their company. They had an eBay account/store which was a small part of the company. The eBay account was in the company name.
So if the company was sold the eBay account wouldn't change owners as it would still be in the company name, owned by the company.
But a rep said the computer says no but failed to explain why considering the difference.
In the end all that matters is that eBay just says no and that's it.

This is the main site- dot COM - which is US based.
Laws governing venues like eBay are different in the UK.
Post your question on the dotCOdotUK sellers board.

NO!
"In the interest of protecting our buyers and sellers, and maintaining a safe marketplace, you can’t sell your eBay account or change its ownership.
...
"Attempting to sell an eBay account may result in buying and selling restrictions as well as account suspension or removal."
It costs nothing to open an eBay account.
You will have to open a Managed Payments account which entails providing your SSN and checking account information (so that eBay can do weekly transfers to your account).
There will be restrictions on the number and value of your initial listings.
There will be a Hold of up to 30 days on your customer payments until you are established.
If someone is pretending you have to pay for an eBay account they are scamming you.
Stores are not quite the same as accounts.
Store sellers have a monthly subscription fee which comes with a few perks like more "free" listings, a discounted seller fee, and a quarterely shipping supplies coupon.
But until you have been selling long enough to learn the ropes, do not pay for a Store.
