Received a warning for extortion because I gave negative feedback
This is my first major purchase from ebay. I paid as soon as the auction ended. The item arrived disassembled and stunk of perfume. I asked about this with no reply from the seller. Next I asked if he was going to leave feedback for me and he replied that I needed to leave feedback first and if positive he would leave feedback. After no further response from the seller to my messages, I left negative feedback based of the item and poor communication. I get a snarky ebay message from the seller today stating he had the negative feedback removed and I also received a warning from ebay that I was extorting the seller. I NEVER said anything to the seller, just commented that the item smelled and was disassembled and the poor communication. NEVER did I ask for anything from him. What do I do when someone is lying about me on ebay and I get an extortion warning?

What did you expect the seller to do when you asked about the condition of the item?
If eBay said that you had committed feedback extortion, it means that they read your messages and interpreted them as being a request for a refund, possibly a partial refund or refund without returning the item, and a veiled threat to leave negative feedback if you didn't get it. That's why your feedback was removed.

OP3 years agoHi, Never once did threaten or ask for a reduction or a return/refund. I just commented at his lack of communication and the condition of the item received. When I asked for feedback he demanded that I give him positive feedback and he will think about giving me feedback. His quote to me was, "If I get positive feedback from you will give you feedback." it is this threatening language the seller used in past communications to me as the reason I gave negative feedback. NO I didn't ask for a refund or discount or return. Just calling out a bully for what he is.

·3 years agoIgnore the warning. Your mistake was not opening an item NOT as described case. Force the seller to take back his smelly item. As for it being disassembled, sometimes you need to do that to get it into a smaller box. They should have mentioned that because not everyone has the brains or the tool to put an item back together. If it still stinks and it has not been 30 days and the item is in the same condition , open an item not described case. By same condition, I mean is it still in the same condition (mint, nearmint). Do you still have the packaging? The instructions (if any)?

·3 years agoDid you know that eBay says We don't cover "musty" or "perfume" smells?
So isn't that inapproiate to tell them to open a not as described case?
eBay lately doesn't decide case by case and you know that cases are automatically won by the buyer whether it's covered or not. Please don't assist buyers in being an artist.

·3 years agoIt seems like a purchase would be covered by the MBG if it arrived "disassembled" when the buyer did not expect it to be.
To the OP: You don't handle situations like this via FB. You open the appropriate case per the MBG.
If your FB left got removed, perhaps you mentioned opening a case, although you apparently didn't do that.
ALL buyers need to learn how to use the Money Back Guarantee.
