Question on category limits

I'm a brand new seller. I put up 10 listings in the last week, have sold one. tried for #11, Buy it now was grayed out. Overview says I can sell 4990 more listings. If I switch categories from handbags to clothing, can I do 10 more listings? How can I find my category limits? Do I have to wait a whole month before putting up more handbags? Tried the AI chat, totally useless.
Guess I'll wander over to depop, post there? Any suggestions / info appreciated.
I know about holds on funds, that doesn't bother me. That info is available. Category hold info seems lacking.
Oh, Overview says I've sold 43 items. Where did that come from? Only sold one, first week selling.

·1 week ago@jealor_5773 Welcome to eBay. Click here and scroll down about halfway to read about category limits. In short, they are usually lifted automatically after you have a proven track record. Not all categories have limits, but handbags does because there are so many fakes floating around and that category can present with more fraud than other categories. ebay doesn't want you listing 300 handbags until you have a solid record of sales with happy buyers. You can absolutely change to clothing, but you cannot list more handbags there as it would violated the search manipulation policy.
Seller Hub will show you monthly limits. I do not think it breaks it down by category.
I think the 43 you are seeing accounts for 42 purchases and 1 sale.

OP1 week agoIf I'd known about the limit, I would have posted different items to start. Do you know if I can cancel a listing to put up a different one under the limit? I want to put up a couple items I think will sell really fast. TIA!

·1 week ago · Edited@jealor_5773 Ending a listing and listing an entirely new item won't reset your limit. Your limit resets every month or until you have proven yourself as a successful seller in the restricted categories.
If you want to list other items that you believe will sell faster, you'll want to end listings until the limit resets next month. The current listings will take up one of those spots when they renew, so you will want to end them prior to when they renew.
