Question About eBay Fees and Shipping Costs
Hello eBay Team,
I would like to confirm how fees are handled for items I list on eBay.
For example, I have inventory at home and I plan to list a product for $5. The product cost is $2.50, and I will ship it myself using a shipping label.Does eBay charge final value fees on the item price only, or on the item price plus shipping If I ship the product from my home using an eBay shipping label, how much shipping label fee will I need to pay Are there any differences in fees if I ship from home versus using another shipping method?
Thank you for your support. I look forward to your clarification.

·8 months agoReal simple, eBay charges you the FVF on the total amount the buyer paid, doesn't matter where you buy the shipping label. If the buyer pays $5 for shipping the FVF portion is on the $5, even if you actually end up paying $4 or $7 for shipping

·8 months agoYou didn't specifically ask but here is my $0.02 worth of advice:
>> Become very familiar with the Money Back Guarantee (MBG).
>>IMO, there are 2 calculators you should bookmark: an ebay fee calculator and a shipping calculator. You may find them under the ebay help pages or just do a google search to pick one. The fee calculator I use has a box (other) where I add the cost of shipping and printing supplies.
>> Invest in a scale to get accurate weights. Be sure to weigh item + packaging materials.
>> Take crisp, bright pictures. If there is a flaw, highlight it in a picture. Describe your item as accuarately as you can. Disclose any known flaws.
>> Check back here often.

As always, @wastingtime101 is the wind beneath our wings! Excellent information, all. 😊
I'd offer that you don't do that listing. It sounds like you'd lose money and your mind. Have you read about becoming a new seller? It's a jungle out here. Good luck should you decide to move forward, though.

Final value fees
We charge one final value fee when your item sells, and you don't have to worry about third-party payment processing fees. This fee is calculated as a percentage of the total amount of the sale, plus a per order fee. For orders $10.00 or less the per order fee is $0.30, for orders over $10.00 the per order fee is $0.40.
The total amount of the sale includes the item price, any handling charges, any shipping costs collected from the buyer (some exceptions apply), sales tax, and any other applicable fees.
An order is defined as any number of items purchased by the same buyer at checkout with the same shipping method.
