·1 year agoAlthough I will add, since it is "local pick" only as listed, that is what the buyer is obligated to do. You did not have to ship it. That is consistent with your listing.
BTW, if you do ship it, seal both the bottom and top of the pallet/crate with plywood. Add additional 4" x 4" runners to the bottom. You can go the short way if the total pallet length is under 8'. The last thing you want is for fork lift forks on the tilt to hit the sign.

This one is for you...with "local pick up as the selected method, are sellers require to ship the item by a specific date? I don't know that answer. But I think as far as eBay is involved, they expected a local pick up. By stating shipping in the description the seller contradicts themselves,but to their advantage no shipping time is displayed...they could drag it out a month, couldn't they?

·1 year agoThat's LTL oversized freight and I doubt it can ship for that cost. 6 years ago I paid over $500 to ship something much smaller 5 states away. 8 L x 3 H as opposed to 12 L. x 4 H
Prices have gone up a lot since then.

·1 year agoAs it looks like you didn't have shipping services selected you will be paying for that out of pocket. However, since you have "local pick up" as the only offering, eBay is expecting the items to be picked up and verified by using the QR code given to the buyer. All buyer/seller protections seem to go out the window here if not using local pick up.
Do you know for a fact the buyer wasn't planning on using "local pick up"? That would be ideal in this situation.

You mentioned that it is going to cost $300 to ship the sign. Are you paying this or is the buyer? Adding that paragraph to the description is not the correct way to handle this as sellers are not allowed to change shipping terms after the end of a sale. (Many buyers do not read descriptions to begin with and many do not go back and re-read descriptions after they first read them.) You probably missed out on some bids because all buyers would see when they look at the listing is "local pickup" not knowing that you changed your mind about shipping.
I hope you do not run into a problem with the buyer regarding the description. You say the sign is in "excellent condition" but it is far from being excellent. A lot of rust spots and paint chips. "Normal wear around edges" is subjective. I realize the sign is 90 years old and will have wear but with eBay, you have to be specific. I would have called it "good condition" but I tend to undersell things with the hopes that a buyer will receive something "better than expected".
Also, you say it is crated and ready to ship. Are you going to ship it in that open wood crate/frame like it is shown in the last picture? I would never ship something open like that as it is really not protected. How are you going to ship it? As large as that sign is, I would think you would be limited to ways you can ship it.
You can purchase a shipping label through eBay with your pending/on hold funds.
Unfortunately, eBay will be holding your funds for at least 14 days, 30 at the most because you are a new seller. Under certain circumstances they may hold funds longer than 30 days.

The item you sold is local pick up only. You didn't specify any shipping. If it's being picked up be sure to get the QR code from the buyer. It is your proof of delivery. Without that proof you may have problems if the buyer opens an item not received case. You won't be able to add shipping to a listing that sold.
