You can put it in the title
You can put it in the description
You can put it in the custom label
You can put it in the item specifics

·11 months agoI put this information at the end of my “description†, about a dozen spaces down so it’s most likely overlooked by the buyer / doesn’t confuse them.

·11 months agoWe put the location in the yellow 'my note' box. When we reload the sold ... I mean order page the info is right there below the listing.

·11 months agoIn the Title because you can Search it on Orders and on Active Listings.
In my case, the inventory number is the Scott Catalog number and is also used by collectors in Search.

·11 months agoExactly right. I can search by Inventory # or Scott # Or what the stamp is "Lincoln" or whatever.
My buyers like the inventory #s which are way easier to search than the
ebay listing # which is 500 characters long. Or so it seems.
I'm not doing this for any reason other than it makes my life easier
and it's a simple process.
A buyer messages me that they are interested in,
#1757 #2519 #9512 #2346a #2519A #9552 #9005
I can put my hands on those 7 items in about 20 seconds and
give them a price in about 1 minute.
The buyer give me 7 different eBay listing #s it's going to take me a awile
to find them and sort it all out.
A seller with 100 items can do a system that works. I have over 4,000 listings
and I need a more involved system.
I was picking thru a stamp sellers eBay listings a short time ago. He
had over 112,000 active listings as of this AM.

·11 months agoI can search by our Custom Label (SKU) field in Active Listings too, though because we include multiple things in that field I sometimes have issues searching by just our actual 6 or 7 digit SKU in Orders.

·11 months agoI'm one of those rare eBay sellers that thinks every buyer should receive a hard copy of the
sales order when he gets his stuff.
Putting the inventory # in the title, It shows on the sales order for everybody
to see, Myself and the buyer. I don't believe the SKU shows on the sales order.

Found that sometimes for unknown reasons, I will occasionally totally zone out and forget to put an item number in the custom SKU.
It has saved me more than once to have this also in the description box.

·11 months agoI'm a nellie worry wort............. I use SKU box, but I also keep a written notebook... in the unlikely event Ebay wipes out either listings or sku's......

Custom label (SKU) is not available on the simple listing form. You'd have to switch to the business listing tool using the gear icon on the upper right of the page.
Once you switch to the business tool, look for a button to the top right of the title field that says 'see title options' and toggle on the slider for Custom Label (SKU).
That will populate the field on your listing form.
Then on your Seller Hub Active listings page you can click the customize link on the top right and add the Custom Label (SKU) column to your view.

·11 months agoYou can use your sku or add a note to the listing via your hub's active listings. I use the notes for odd things that may be shipping from my location vs my other ones.

·11 months ago99.5% of my listings have an inventory # right in the title and on the
item itself in the listing.
Tells me what it is and where it is located and approximately when it was
originally listed.
Simplifies the process when an item actually sells.

I've seen some sellers put it in their title, at the end, and some put it at the end of their description. I would think it would be best to have it at the end of your title as then it would be right in front of you when you sell something.
