@New seller with a question on shipping
I have a buyer who wants to purchase multiple items. Each item has shipping. She asked if I combine shipping. I advised yes absolutely. She asked if there is a box to check to indicate that option. I am not aware of a box. How is the shipping costs handled when a buyer purchases multiple items? Does that adjust at when they go to the payment screen? Or, do I need to do something?

·7 months agoWhen it works, buyer adding purchased items to the cart and requesting an invoice is the easiest method for me as a seller. They then can pay without my having to refund.
This method does not work sometimes. For example, it does not work when the buyer has made or accepted an offer. Also sometimes a problem for app users.

It does not automatically adjust for combined shipping, because eBay has no idea of the final weight, dimensions, and even how many boxes will end up being shipped.
I've found the best way to handle it is to have the buyer use eBay's Shopping Cart and actually pay what eBay says the total cost will be. Then, after I pack, weigh and measure everything, I'll determine the final combined savings, deduct it from what they paid in shipping costs, and immediately refund a major portion of the difference and ship the order. A lot of us sellers do it this way, and it's clean, quick, and simple.
Works perfectly, and I have yet to have any customers balk at that easy solution. They are almost always surprised and happy about the savings. Helps to encourage and get repeat buyers as well.
