New Seller – Just Opened My Account! Would Love Your Advice
Hey everyone
I’m super excited to be here
I’ve just opened my first eBay seller account after spending the past month carefully reading through all the policies and learning as much as I can
Now I’m finally ready to list my first product and start this journey
Before I dive in, I’d love to ask you more experienced sellers in this amazing community
What are the top 3 to 5 things you wish you knew before you started selling on eBay?
Any tips, lessons, or mistakes to avoid would mean the world to me

·1 year agoI'm a bit confused🫣 My understanding was this blue pencil/pen was a "test" listing.... You posted on May 14th and it is now the 18th......Seems a bit odd to keep it up.
I truly hope that you have the information that you were looking for.
PS....A local school may be in need of any extra pens and pencils you may have.

If not, as a new seller, I have spent a lot of time reading here some important information, one being accurate descriptions. 🫣

·1 year agoThe very first thing to do is READ absolutely EVERYTHING you can about selling here. Then read it again. As you're reading, make notes about things you want further information about, and THEN come here and ask those specific questions.
Most of us will be stunned into speechlessness if you get a buyer for that blue pencil. Are those more valuable in your country than they are here and are they rare? And it doesn't seem, to me anyway, to be an item someone would wait several months to receive.
Or was that just a test listing?

Just to clarify this listing was only meant as a test to connect my bank account and get familiar with how eBay’s interface works
The price is intentionally set high so that no one actually buys it
I’m still in the learning phase and appreciate any constructive tips from experienced sellers like you

1. Always ship with tracking.
2. No returns doesn't mean no refunds. If a buyer makes a return request for "not as described" you MUST accept that return and pay to get your item back. Yes, even IF the item is as described. If you fight it, you will lose.
3 .eBay phone reps often give VERY poor advice. If you have issues READ the policy concerning that issue and/or come here, to the board for advice.
4. Do NOT dropship unless you follow the policy! You must own the item and have a contract, in place, with the shipper.
Those are some of the top things.. Good Luck!
