Need to sell bike, new to selling online
I want to sell my bike please help! It has some problems and in the meanwhile, I also found another type of biking that interests me more. I have never sold anything online and I don't really know how this works. Any help and tips are helpful, thank you!

·1 year agoBiggest problem is how to package and ship the bike if you sell it. Better off selling locally, fewer headaches.

·1 year agoFind a bicycle shop which will give you a discarded bicycle box before you list.
You will need the dimensions and the weight of the packed bike to create a listing which might show the correct shipping charge to the buyer.
This is not going to be a fun to ship item.
If you do not pay for a carrier pickup, you will have to bring the bike to a UPS store or FEDEX Office store.
Ebay is going to charge a commission on the cost of shipping as well as the sell price and sales tax, so a slightly lower local sale might net you as much money.

You would be better off selling this locally on Craigslist or FB Marketplace. You will have your money faster and won't have to worry about return claims or chargebacks.

·1 year agoOr shipping!! IMHO a bicycle would be a terrible choice for anybody's first online listing.
I've been selling on eBay since 1999 and I would never consider selling a bike here, except maybe with Local Pickup Only, in which case I'd probably just use those other sites that wouldn't charge a big fee like eBay.

·1 year agoIf you are a new seller you need to make sure you are fully setup in Managed Payments and your eBay account is linked to your checking account so you can get paid. As a new seller if you item sells it is likely that eBay will hold your funds for up to 30 days. If your bike has "some problems" it's probably a risky item to list on eBay as the buyer, upon receipt, may request a refund and want to return the item. Depending on the reason for the return you could be responsible for the return shipping if you want the bike back. You need to read through the following couple of help files, probably more, BEFORE you ever list the bike. You should also know what eBay is going to charge you in fees if the item sells.
Personally I would try to sell the bike locally.
