my listing was removed
It was a few months ago, and I had just ventured into selling after buying on eBay for years. Things were going ok, I sold a couple of things, but then I had a listing removed for selling a purse that eBay decided was not authentic. It was a Dooney and Bourke. Not a high end designer bag, but it's a nice brand. The things I was selling were my own personal things. I wasn't flipping stuff from unknown sources. I bought the bag because it was on sale, and I liked it. It came from a reputable source, with an actual rep from Dooney touting all the fabulous features of the bag, which is what they do on tv shopping channels. It was the real deal. It's easy to buy things you don't need when you watch a channel like the Q. Which is why I don't watch it anymore, and why my closet has quite a few brand new things, some still with tags, hanging in it. Things I was hoping to sell on eBay. Now I'm wondering if eBay is going to let me. I understand it might look suspicious that I'm listing a new bag for around half or less of the retail price, but that doesn't mean it's fake. It means I'm losing money by trying to recoup only a fraction of the price I paid so I can declutter my life and feel good when I walk in my closet. I'd like to try selling again. Any suggestions on how to list things so this doesn't happen again? Should I not list things as new even if they have never been used? It's disheartening to put the time and effort into creating a listing just to see it go poof. Lastly, how does this even happen? Does someone make a complaint? Like maybe someone selling something similar?

·5 months agoReally bad policy by billionaires here, work goes into building up products/listings and some may go out of stock for a few months as planned, and then they're wiped to save money for the billionaires and hurt us workers creating their income.

·1 year agoWe had vintage Bull Durham chewing tobacco adds removed and eBay stated that they were "offensive". I am confused about this.

·3 years agoIn a nutshell.........Ebay policy states that they can remove listing for any reason.
You may be able to lessen the chances if you are sure you are following all of ebays other policies.
Yes anyone can report a listing.

Before listing, if you haven’t done so, as a new seller it will benefit you to read up on eBay policies and practices that govern the site. I have included a few links below to get you started. But to answer your questions—
There are four basic reasons a listing gets removed. 1) It violates an eBay policy. 2) It violates a law. 3) It’s a Vero takedown (where a rights owner requests a removal, citing infringement or counterfeit, for example). 4) It is a “stale†listing, meaning it has been on the platform for a year or more without any sales activity.
Anyone can report an item to eBay, but a single report (especially if from a rival seller) is highly unlikely to cause a removal. Was your D&B a Vero takedown? If so, eBay has no choice but to remove the listing. By law, eBay must comply with a right’s owner report (even if it seems bogus).
List new items as new. All facts in a listing need to be scrupulously correct. When listing an old item that still has its tags, one can report the age of the item or call it “New Old Stock†(NOS) as an alternative. In the case of your purse, i would also have identified it as a QVC offering.
An an aside, one can also register their D&B purchases on the company’s website. The serial number is on the interior fabric tag and is unique to each purse. This act can support the bag’s authenticity, in a world where clever knock-off’s can be hard to spot.
Below are some important policies and the User Agreement all sellers need to be familiar with. Good luck to you in your eBay efforts. My advice is to start small and once you have a few sales, then add higher value items. Come back anytime.
