I'm new here and I want to know if my posts are all good.
I reached out the other day asking for help on selling online because I'm new here. I originally was asking for help for selling funko pop mystery boxes/lots and EVERYONE was telling me no but I still wondered why I see posts like that on here if I'm being told it's against policy. I did my research and now I know. Although I had people helping me by explaining to me the policies and even had some people explain different ways to sell funko pops there were a few that were really rude almost trash talking me and also in a way talking down to me. I'm surprised that highly rated sellers would treat someone new like me with the disrespect I received. Although some were rude I did study and researched quite a bit before redoing my profile and the "about me" description has been fixed and now I have seven post up and I believe I did really well I would just like someone to check them to make sure I'm good to go. Thank you for your time. Have a good day/night.

·3 years agoI think your listings look good, but I'd revisit (raise) the s&h cost. Good luck with these!

·3 years agoIt's easy to be rude to others from behind a screen and unfortunately you'll find discourse lacking in civility across the internet. The good news is you are under no obligation to personalize or respond to any of it, that choice is yours to make. These forums are also moderated so the discussions here can only get so heated. More often than not I think you'll find a lot of valuable insights from well meaning people who volunteer their time to help others. Good luck to you!

·3 years agoAs mentioned elsewhere, OP asked about mystery boxes.
Answer was it's not allowed. Took awhile to get that point across.
Where does the "rude" part come in?

·3 years agoPardon me if I wasn't more careful with my wording, it's a general statement about online discourse, not meant to accuse anyone of having been particularly reprehensible in their tone with the OP in their other post. It seems to me that this is a new seller trying to learn how this site works, including these forums. If they took offense to the tone they were dealt in their other post and intend to keep coming here it would be best to mentally fortify themselves against taking such offense. I have seen my fair share of what could be seen as condescending tones, 'dunking' on others for a perceived audience, and scolding when giving good advice. I also see plenty of those who are given good advice only to argue ungratefully to those who bother to give it. Not only is it easy to be rude online, it is easy to take offense to others' tones, whether or not it is deserved. My point to the OP is it's best to not let oneself get caught up or be negatively affected by it.

·3 years agoMy only thought at this point is shipping. How much does it cost to ship 8 or 10 pops? If you only get your minimum bid, can you ship that many pops to the farthest point from you, pay all the fees and still put money in your pocket? Just looking at it from this view.

·3 years agoThat's a very good point, especially since packaging up those lots could end up with a box that's over 1 cubic foot -- which will ship at the "dimensional weight" of at least 11 pounds, rather than the postage cost for the actual scale weight.
When offering free shipping, it's a good idea to estimate the postage cost to Zone 8 by pre-packaging the items, and entering the actual package weight and dimensions into eBay's shipping calculator, so you know your worst-case shipping scenario and can price your items accordingly:

You might decide to offer calculated shipping instead of free shipping.

·3 years agoLooks like you're not selling mystery boxes, and have listed the actual characters people are bidding on so I'd say you're good to go. Just a tip, keep listing. I don't list very often at all and my sales are stagnant. One of the tricks, except for having thousands of listings, is to list at least once a day. So keep working and listing and you should do fine. And I learn things all the time...I'd never heard of Funko Pop...now I know. Hope they don't go the way of Beenie Babies. I have a friend who invested big in those thingies and now she has a basement full of weird little dolls that she can't sell. Good luck.
What many of us were trying to convey to you is Mystery boxes aren’t allowed on eBay because buyers need to know exactly what’s in those boxes. Especially when you were charging $800.00 for it.
Even though you see many other sellers selling mystery boxes doesn’t mean it’s ok to do. They all are violating eBays Chance listing policy and just haven’t been caught yet.
Your new listings look very good, you could brighten up the pictures just a bit so those items can be seen better. Other than that BRAVO 👠ðŸ‘

·3 years agoOh and cancel those bids, then cancel the auctions.
In that order.
soh.maryl
·3 years agoWhy are you suggesting he cancel those bids?

·3 years agoWhy are you suggesting that he cancel those auctions?
And why do you think it's necessary to cancel the bids first? If a seller starts the process of canceling an auction that has bids, then if the auction has more than 12 hours left the seller must choose between (1) sell to the high bidder or (2) cancel all bids and end with no transaction; it's not necessary to cancel the bids first.

You asked if you could sell mystery boxes.
You were told no.
The actual eBay rule was posted for you.
You listed mystery boxes anyway.
And now your question is about "disrespect"?
Pot... kettle.
