I have a perfect rating and have sold over a thousand I'll receive half
I am new and yes I've only been selling for 11 days and out of the $1100 I've made I get to.keep.a little over $500 and of that 500 I've received $100 and the rest is now on hold for verification of my account. Would it not be Beneficial to verify before someone starts selling and with the amount ebay takes how is this even lucrative? is ridiculous please explain how this is even beneficial

·4 months agoIn 30 years of existence, Ebay has learned that trust must be earned. Most other internet marketplaces and payment services have learned the same lesson.
You cannot prequalify for trust when you are dealing with a marketplace as broad and as erratic as Ebay.
Maybe you will be here in a month or six months, maybe not. Your short term performance is not affecting Ebay's bottom line, perhaps it will one way or another.

Late back to this party and since your edits were made. I also empathize with you on the quote ^^ pulled from the new copy. I, too, think that eBay should make sure sellers are familiar with what to expect when new/returning to selling.
Have no idea as to how they could do it, though... 🤔

·4 months agoWell, for a start, new sellers could read the MBG. And returning sellers could do little remedial reading just in case there've been changes since they last sold here.

·4 months agoOut of idle curiosity, looked at some of your current listings. Some of your descriptions of necklaces do not include length.

·4 months agoIf you read the information before selling in eBay it states new or infrequent sellers have a hold of 30 days on their funds.
The trick is to sell items every month so there is never a hold on funds.
And when you sell something really expensive compare to other items not so expensive you have sold...there might be a hold on that expensive item.
We as sellers have all had the same situation when starting out.
It does get better.
The people who responded here are actually very knowledgeable about selling...and might come in handy when a problem does happen in the future.
There is no great customer service reps to call to get fast answers...only us here in the community forum.
There are some great people here who are so experienced in selling...

·4 months agoIf you look at the Order Details report it will tell you everything about the money the buyer paid and how that money was distributed. This will answer questions about why you sold over $1000 but only received half.
If you need help finding the Order Details, just ask and someone will help you.

·4 months agoDoes the $1100 include the amount collected for shipping?
Or are your listings offering free shipping?
soh.maryl
·4 months agoAs far as I can tell, the OP does not offer free shipping.
As well, unless it's been changed fairly recently, the OP doesn't give much of a description, including lengths of necklaces; however, evidently, they are being purchased anyway so what the heck do I know?

·4 months agoNew sellers run into verifications at times. If you had sold 10k in products in that short time you would surely be looking at 30-day holds.

EBay participates in risk management. New and infrequent sellers are a risk. They are going to verify your account again to make sure it was not a hacked/stolen account. EBay also makes sure new sellers don't try to take the money and run, thus the payment holds.
Hang in there, the holds become less frequent over time.
I don't experience any holds as a 26 year, fulltime seller. EBay is run like a business. Not a place to make fast money.

·4 months agoeBay places holds on new seller payments for account safety and buyer protection. Funds are typically released once tracking shows delivery and the account builds a short selling history. This is standard for new accounts, not permanent.
Fees cover marketplace access, payment processing, buyer protection, and traffic that helps generate sales without advertising.
Once your account is verified and you complete more successful orders, holds usually reduce and payouts become faster and more consistent.

·4 months agoA new seller, selling $1100 in 11 days does throw up some red flags.
soh.maryl
·4 months agoRegardless of whatever your situation is, it would be bizarre that you'd only be able to keep less than half the amount you sold.
Again, if you can return and give details, we'd like to help.

·4 months agoEbay has no idea whether you will deliver on time or even if you will deliver the products you promise.......therefore new sellers are usually under a "hold" for 30 days, to insure that things go well and they don't have to come after for refunds........that makes sense from their point of view and is beneficial to them. ......and since you're on their site you have to abide by their rules.

·4 months agoDid you, before beginning your eBay career, read all the information eBay offers regarding new sellers, especially the part about holds on your funds? The information about how the seller's final value fee is calculated might be of interest to you also.

I, and possibly a few others, do not understand your issue.
BTW, my life isn't "sad and unfulfilling". The people who staff these forums are fellow eBayers, buyers and sellers, who volunteer their time to help others with questions if they can.
Generally, we don't expect slams and insults; however, they do occur.

OP4 months agoGreat response and you're the welcoming committee I take it. If you can't offer any helpful advice why take the time to even respond unless your life is so sad and unfulfilling you feel the need to make this useless response. Thanks for showing your character.

I'll take a shot at the "I've only received" part. You're new to selling. Hang in there. >> Transaction holds | eBay

Hard to picture someone buying a necklace without knowing the length, but apparently it happens.
soh.maryl
·4 months agoNot originally. Evidently buyers aren't concerned with the length of a necklace or bracelet?
