First sale buyer wants a refund
Hi, I made my 1st eBay sale last Saturday. I shipped it out Monday morning by USPS Priotiy with tracking. Everything seemed perfect and I was happy to complete my part of the sale. Buyer messaged me yesterday and said the address is wrong and please go to the post office today and check with the clerk. The cleck ran the tracking and said it arrived at the correct post office this morning and should be delivered today or Monday. That seemed reasonable. I figured it was just a simple post office error. Buyer is asking for a full refund with the threat of bad feedback. I think I am supposed to ship to the address on the sellers information. Im sure the box is right there at his local post office. Is it reasonable to ask him to wait until Monday? Thanks for the help.

·5 months agoWait -- the buyer said the address is wrong? Did you ship to the address you saw when the buyer paid?
So did the buyer give you the wrong address? Don't quite get the entire scenario here.
PS: How does he know "the address is wrong" if he has not received the package?
Or, is he acknowledging that he may have given the wrong address when he made his purchase?

·5 months agoWell that's on the buyer. They are responsible to have the correct shipping address on file. What you need to do is wait for it to be delivered and if the buyer files a case answer the case with the tracking number. Do not give this buyer a refund. Do not be concerned about threats of negative feedback. This is solely on them. You can appeal feedback.

·5 months agoYou ship to the address that prints out, then you ship the item. Nothing else for you to do until a claim is filed.
Couple of questions....what was the item and why did you ship priority? Im asking on the priority because that is over a week it took to reach the buyer. Was it weather delayed?

OP5 months agoIt was my first order and my printer wasn't working so I hand addressed it. Now I realize that was a mistake. I sent it priority because it was the box at the post office that was the best fit.

·5 months agoYou might have a problem if you did NOT enter USPS tracking# into EBAY system. If EBAY cannot track the package, you will lose your case.

OP5 months agoI did enter it manually.
Everyone has been so helpful. Thank you for the guidance.

·5 months agoGreat as long as you entered tracking# into EBAY system you will be covered.

The days of Priority Mail arriving in two days are long gone. Now it takes just as long for Priority packages to be delivered as it does Ground Advantage. My experience has been that Priority packages no longer receive Priority handling.
@colorcells
When you have something to ship, find a box to fit it and send it by Ground Advantage. Of course, the post office is going to suggest that you use Priority boxes. They cost more to mail. Ground Advantage usually reaches it destination promptly and is usually much cheaper than Priority. You can get good used boxes about anywhere as businesses just throw them away. (You cannot use liquor boxes which is a shame because they are usually sturdy.) A lot of Walmart stores also sell boxes in their office supplies dept.

·5 months agoEBAY does NOT hold the Seller responsible if customer has "wrong address" on the EBAY record. If customer opens "did not receive item" case against you, give EBAY tracking proving item was DELIVERED. Case will close in your favor.
If package get "returned to you" (refund customer "purchase price ONLY"). Customer is responsible for postage because it was their mistake.

If you go to the order and click on the tracking number, does it show delivery?
Would you please copy and paste the tracking number?
Are you sure it's the buyer who has contacted you?
If the buyer threatened to leave a negative feedback if you don't refund through a message, go to the message and report it. State "feedback extortion threat."

·5 months agoDo not do anything unless a claim for a refund is opened by the buyer.
I wouldn't even email the buyer anymore...don't 'open a can of worms'.
See what the buyer does...will package be returned to you?...will a buyer or someone else refuse the package?
And going to the post office to check is not something I would even do.

·5 months agoStop.
Buyer said address is wrong?
First thing- message the buyer "What do you mean address is wrong? Tracking NEVER shows a full address, only a Zip Code. Did you move and NOT update your new address to ebay? If so, nothing I can do as that would be something you have to deal with since it's already shipped to the address YOU gave me"
2nd- do nothing. Look at the tracking (usps website if necessary)- what does it say?
3rd- do nothing- until buyer opens an official 'return' for reason of 'not received' and then you will simply input the tracking number; buyer will lose the case since tracking will show 'delivered'.

·5 months agoYes, wait. How do they know the address is "wrong"?
Never ship anywhere other than the address that eBay has for the buyer. Its the buyer's responsibility to keep their address in the system correct.
If your buyer threatened negative feedback to get you to do something outside of procedure its against policy. If they follow through you can have it removed.
Once this is over with, put them on your BBL
