Ebay selling startup
Hello Friends,
Wanted to say hi to ya'll.
We just created our account and want to start selling few items.
Any recommendations would be high appreciated as we read in the forums sellers getting suspended without any reason.

·2 years agolisten as long as you have great customer service your following the rules and not trying to buck the system you will be fine. All the ones that complain is trying to do shady things one way or another. remember to always provide amazing top notch customer service that will keep the customers comming back. we are 5 weeks in and providing great cust service answering questions fast sending thank you messeages to buyers and inviting them to follow us. Let me tell you we are doing way better than I even thought. We had a goal of just getting 300.00 in 1 month we passed that in about 5 days. So we said ok lets set our goal to 600.00 for this month blew by that goal. So my wife is like ok lets just set a crazy goal and say $1000.00 in our first month. Let me tell you we ended our first month of selling a little over $1200.00 Cant believe we did that still blows my mind. We are ending our first week of second month today and already ahead of the game. We say all of this to let you know. Just be the best at customer service thats what makes or breaks you. There will come a time where the customer wants to return an item or item got damaged during shipping, Just take care of it as quickly as possible and be overly apologetic. Always remember Great customer service and you will go far.

Start small, perhaps listing inexpensive house-hold items no longer needed, while you are learning how to sell on eBay. Do not jump right into selling pricey, high-fraud things (like smartphones, laptops & tablets, luxury designer goods, gaming items, electronics, etc). As you gain experience, gradually add in more profitable goods.
Choose things that are easy and cheap to mail to start, because shipping is a complex side of the business. Begin to collect clean, quality, decent-looking shipping supplies, (don’t forget a postal scale and tape measure, which are a must) and at this stage, always ensure you have the right packaging for an item before listing it. You need to know the final weight and dimensions of each package —to input into the listing form —to keep from making rookie mistakes. Nothing worse than selling something only to discover at the last minute you don’t have the right box or envelope for the job.
Read the eBay Help pages, the entire User Agreement, the community forums and all the eBay policies, ideally before you start selling. Be an informed seller—that is critical. Although over 15 years i have never been scammed by a buyer, it can happen, and it is imperative that you are as well-versed in eBay policy as the scammers are.
Pay special heed to eBay’s Money Back Guarantee policy, and be aware that eBay’s first interest is in itself (as a for-profit business) and in its buyers. Don’t assume you as a seller will be protected by eBay. Learn what the actual seller protections are and shelter your own interests. eBay can be fun and profitable, but remember, it is a business.

Cancelling a sale for "out of stock" is a defect that can take a selling account down quickly.

·2 years agoFirst recommendation is do not go by what your read on these forums. NO ONE gets suspended without reason. Those with low sales, suspensions, etc. make up stories and blame Ebay.

·2 years agoThere is ALWAYS a reason.
Ebay does not suspend people on a whim at random.
Just familiarize yourself with the rules, follow them, and you'll be fine.

BTW: Ebay takes it fees from the TOTAL SALE (item price + shipping + tax).
Many new sellers (even old ones) come here complaining about that.

Do those things first and then think about selling items you know.

·2 years agoTip No. 1. Pay attention to what Buyselljack told you. eBay does not suspend sellers "without any reason."
Tip No. 2. No not drop-ship. There is no worse business model you can choose. You will have no control over product availability, authenticity, quality, proper packing, or timely shipping -- but YOU are responsible for any problems that arise with any of those.
Tip No. 3. Combine 1 and 2. The majority of sellers who come here complaining that they have been suspended were drop-shipping.

·2 years agoLearn about, and understand shipping methods, and costs of shipping,
Start with "fixed price listings" (not auctions) and use the "immediate payment required"(IPR) option. Do not list with "offers". Offers at this point, for most, negates the IPR.
Do not respond to messages to "contact me by text". 1st sign of a "scam".

·2 years agoThe new seller needs to read everything he can possibly read about selling on eBay BEFORE listing anything. That includes the Money Back Guarantee for buyers. Please do not just jump in and then return here with an issue that would have been easily preventable by pre-reading.

There often is a "reason".
To prevent unsavory sellers from executing a "work around" eBay does not always (for security reasons) give complete details about the reason.
Sometimes the reason was given but has to be dragged out of the suspended.
Sometimes the reason has to be explained to the ID suspended.
