Buyers Location Delivery Request
Hello!
I received my latest sale with a request of contacting USPS & request the location of delivery for them. How do I do this? Or is this even my responsibility?
Thanks,
Chey

·2 years agoGo to USPS web site and search for the Tracking Number. If it shows the option for Delivery Instructions, then just follow the instructions to leave the details of where you want package left. If the option is not shown, then the package is not eligible for this service.

·2 years agoThere is a section on the bottom of the eBay Label that looks like for a note. Can you put a note in this space?

The blank area immediately underneath the pre-printed address, or immediately above the pre-printed address, are the best areas in which to hand-print short, additional delivery instructions.
This is what I have done in the past 11 years, without ANY objections from USPS.
Why are you being asked that question?
Has the estimated date of delivery past?
Did you ship to the address shown in the order details?
Does tracking show the item was delivered?
If you shipped to the address in the order details and the item shows as delivered and the buyer is claiming non receipt then the responsibility is on the buyer.
They are to ensure a safe location for their items to be delivered. With that being said, it’s on the buyer to find out where their item is , check with neighbors, family members, their post office and possibly may need to involve law enforcement as your buyer may have a porch pirate.

OP2 years agoThe buyer simply made the note in checkout. Has not been shipped yet. It sounds like this responsibility is on the buyer to confirm where they would like the package received not me? If so, I'll contact the buyer & claify this. Thanks so much!
If the buyers shipping address is in the order details that is where you ship. Shipping any where else will void seller protection and you would lose an item not received case. It is the buyers responsibility to ensure their shipping address is correct.
If the buyer tells you their address has changed you would need to cancel the sale citing problem with buyers address and the buyer should repay with their correct address.

OP2 years agoOk this is really very good information for the future. The simple request made was to "have my package delivered to the side door to avoid potential theft."
That wouldn’t be anything for you to do. The buyer needs to communicate that with the postal carrier.
If the buyer is worried about theft then he/she should have the post office hold their mail or get a POBox.

·2 years agoTo me, that's not a biggie.
I'd print the shipping label and send to the address in the order and on the package beside the label (easily seen by the mail carrier), I'd write with a sharpie "please deliver package to the side door."
I'd also recommend to the buyer that they communicate with the mail carrier their wishes.

·2 years agoBasically, there's no way the seller can convey to the delivery service, USPS or whoever, the exact location the buyer wants his package delivered to. Tell the buyer that he'll have to handle that himself by a phone call to the delivery service, USPS or whoever it is.

·2 years agoIt is strange that USPS can/does not do that.
Over here in Au, we can add a note for the carrier (Aust Post or another Courier/Shipper) a safe place at the buyer address to drop.

USPS will allow additional delivery information to be hand-printed on the address label.
Several of my buyers have requested this in the past, & I have added the information without any problems with USPS.
Just don't change the house number or the ZIP Code!

·2 years agoFirst of all, NEVER send a package to anything other than the buyers address shown on ebay - they say they didnt get it, you say you sent it and they turn around and can prove you did not send it to their address. They can change their info on ebay if they want it sent to another address and if they dont want to do that apologize and cancel the order - it is just not worth being scammed.
