    400 items

Even though I have been a member of eBay for several years, it is sometimes difficult to understand what eBay means.

I have a regular shop, and they say that I have

‘Monthly quota for free listings in fixed price format’

Does eBay mean that I can have a maximum of 400 items for sale in total,
    or
Does it mean per month, so in August it is 400, and in September it is 400, etc., so it accumulates in total. In this example, it would be 800 in 2 months.

I hope my question makes sense.

    Kind regards, Johnny

IF your free listing limit is 400 per month then it is 400 PER MONTH. Anything over 400 per month is charged a listing fee.

See if this helps...if you are allowed 400 free listing per month...and you now have 400 items in your store, each month they will relist and count as the 400 free ones.  If you add 1 more listing, then you will have 401 and be charged for 1 listing each month.  You do not get 400 "new" listings each month.

The only way to increase your items is to follow what @gator08041971 pointed out.

    @original.danish

Well, there are two aspects.  Listings and Items.

You can have say 250 listings, but maybe 5000 items.  (In my case its 250 listings, but I can list up to 5 million items)

One of the ways around listing imitations is using multiple quantity listings, or variation listings.  But those listings have to have items that are either the same (for quantity) or similar in nature (for variation).

    For example I have currently:

    gator08041971_0-1756356925467.png

57 listings, with 561 items.  That averages out about 10 items per listing.   Because I have been on the platform a long time and selling for a few years, they capped my limits to 5 million items and 5 million in value.  Not that I could EVER hit that with only 250 listings.

But the number of listings you can have  (for free) and how many items total are two different things.

They use the word "Items" when they mean "Listings":

    gator08041971_1-1756357206890.png

You get a monthly allocation of listing slots each month.  They reset on the 1st of each month.  You can see that in the screen shot above.  But that is a TOTAL of how many listings you still have active at the end of the month plus any new ones you add.  For example if you listed 100 items last month, but only sold 25, and the rest were restarted this month, then you would use 75 listing slots this month, plus any you add this month. If you added another 100, now you will have used 175 this month.  Make sense?  If you do a lot of auction style listings, the month they are listed in is counted out of your available total listing slots.  If you re-list an auction, that uses another slot.

Items are just totaled for each month.  Come the first, however many items you have within all your listings will just be allocated like below like here in this box:
