People Believing Nonsense - How to Get Facts Across?
Over in the Chevrolet forum I participate, a guy comes along who finds a 1979 Chevrolet C10 pickup. He believes that it is a unique factory "trick" as it has an original 350 4-bolt main with 305 heads. Apparently, the local Chevrolet dealer told him that they did this "trick" to 7,000 or so 1978 and 1979 models. The claim is that Chevrolet used a bunch of older blocks on this "trick" engine.
From what I remember as a kid, 1979 had some pretty lame stuff. Checking the GM Heritage Center, I see that for 1979, the base C10 pickup could be had with a 250 inline 6 or a 305. Now, if you bought the F44 "Big 10", then you could get the 350, 400 or 454, but not in the base C10.
No wonder so many people complain about people being less than truthful. I'd ask that dealer to show proof and I would have told the prior owner that the FACTS do not support their claim.
