How to Add Compatibility List to eBay Motors Listing?
I have tried following eBay's How to Add Fitment for Single Listing instructions but cannot get the Compatibility List to be included in my listings. I don't sell a lot of auto parts but having a Compatibility List would be a real labor saver. What am I missing?

·2 years agoCompatibility is ebay's name for "Interchange" (what vehicles a part fits).
It's not a labor saver.
When listing, you get to the compatibilities settings, and you choose a make. Then a model. Then year/options. Then save.
You have to know what vehicles the part fits.
eBay doesn't do that for you.
Depending on the part, it can take f-o-r-e-v-e-r to fill that out.
This is ebay catering to big salvage.
Big salvage yards make up MILLIONS of eBay listings.
Big salvage has that information and for many salvage yards, that information just uploads automatically when listing a part.
As does most of the information in the listings (automatic) which is why most salvage yards listings look like an advertisement with no real description of the part.
What takes most people 30 minutes to list, a salvage yard can do in a minute.
And Compatibility is also where eBay's "guaranteed fit" comes into play.
Salvage yard listings, for the most part, look like emphasis on who they are, how great they are, and not much emphasis on the item itself. Therefore, as a percentage, they don't sell much on eBay.
SO, eBay caters to them via tools that make it easy to list LOTS of parts, really fast, that include all the information that they use, with a guarantee that the part will be right, so that they don't have to explain the items (which takes time).
For most of us normal people, selling a few parts. It's best to just ignore that compatibility stuff and spend our time describing the parts with good pics.
